I've only had 6 amateur fights and am only 18 years old. The reason I'm thinking about going pro so early is because of my style and not being able to get many fights. If I do go pro, I would be taking at the most 3 fights this coming year since I'm young; then pick it up as I develop. I want someone's input on this
Unless you have a great manager/promoter who can get you winnable fights, you will be served up to serious prospects who need soft opponents to get experience. And with only 6 amateur fights, unless you've been training along time and are really good somehow without much ring experience, there isn't gonna be many winnable fights for you.
That is what I was worried about, my coach is good friends with Ann Wolfe so maybe she could find me some fights
I live in the dead center of ****, so any amateur show or tournament is 2 hours away at the least. Which is a hassle when you have to work, weigh in, then go fight
I did just that for 3 years, and an hour and a half was practically fighting at home for us. You just need to be willing to travel and fight as often as you can because with only 6 fights turning pro is a bad idea, and it's not like you won't have to travel to fight professionally...and at the entry level you don't get paid very much.
****inel, lifes hard man. Lifes ****ing hard. I'm really depressed today....... Don't give up the fight man, stay positive.
If your coach thinks you are ready and you aren't going to get matched up with someone to pad their record then go for it
if you are good enough then go for it. But only you know if you are really good enough. I think 18 is a little young to turn pro these days. 20 -22 is a good age. you are more developed. unless you are exceptionally good at 18 i would wait a little longer. Keep training, if you have to travel then travel. I know weighing in on the day is a hassle but every other amateur does it as well.
