Pavlik needs to work on his movment more ... he has terrible movement ... he backs up in straight lines with his hands down at times - exposing his chin. He also doesn't know how to pivot ... He doesn't know how to fight backing up ... he just comes forward without using many angles. His defense has gotten better ... he's picking off shots more ... he's keeping his hands up high. He doesn't have much head movment either -- Pavlik can look like a boxing genius against Lockett, but against someone a bit more schooled he looks amateurish. He doesn't know how to tie up when he's hurt either. He doesn't have any defense for the right hand or the left hook ... or the upper cut ... he's very stiff ...
Where to begin. Let's just take one instance to show you are talking out of your ass. Pavlik doesn't get hurt much, but he did a great job of tying up in the second round of the first Taylor fight.
Pavlik's opponents seem to get downgraded either before or after the fact. Except for Bhop. The JC huggers won't allow that.
You going to define a guy by one fight? 4 1/2 years ago? His more recent resume may not be stellar, but geez..... Let's go with what he has done more recently.
I actually did. But he's the #1 contender, and certainly better than Locket, so I still don't think he's that bad considering Pavlik is coming off his first profesional defeat.
There seems to be a connection between Mayweather avatars, and Pavlik bashing. There is also a definite connection between getting soundly beaten by KP, and being downgraded to over-rated hype-job. A solid 70% of this forum picked Miranda to stop KP. Kelly beat that boy sensless, and Miranda became a hype job. Arthur Abraham stopped Miranda after KP ruined him, and now AA is the second coming of Rocky Marciano. The same guys who picked Miranda to beat Kelly now loudly proclaim that Miranda never was much, but Arthur's win was AWESOME. The hypocrisy knows no bounds. Pavlik handed McKart his first ever KO, and the folks on ESB said that must mean that McKart was shot to ****. Abraham sets up a VOLUNTARY defense against a guy who has been living off McKart's left overs, and it's acceptable because "160 is such a **** division." Like I said, the hypocrisy knows no bounds.
If you cut too much, then their is evidence that they can. At least that is what I have read. If you can't get fully rehydrated the cerebral fluid is still on the low side and can make you more susceptible to KO's. That is one reason they went to the bull**** 36 prior weigh in rule. Give guys a better chance to rehydrate. Proper rehydration is still not a 36 hour process however. For the Athens Olympics, the marathon guys started DAYS in advance to make sure they would be properly hyrdated on race day.
Unfortunately I only saw that fight when I was extremely drunk. I remember being a good one as that goes.
