    Why? :think

It isn't like all these little guys fit the Ivan Calderon or Willie Pep stereotype of smaller lads. They're not going to be flitting around the ring with flurries of soft love taps. Viloria vs. Estrada & Martinez vs. Magdaleno should be wars, full of power punches, and the main event should end in knockout if Shiming is to have any hope of living up to pro expectations. What more do you need that "big boys" could offer?

So...it's gonna be Martinez-Magdaleno, Viloria-Estrada, and Shiming-Valenzuela that will be shown on HBO2 correct?

Odds are up for the main event, but nothing yet on either of the championship matches. :think

    For me? Nothing.

For the casual Chinese market which Arum is trying to tap into? 'The people' love heavyweights, any first time attendee (which I'm guessing will make up something like 50-80% of the crowd) is going to prefer seeing the big boys, I thinking as a promoter would you not just stick on a heavier bout for the spectacle. I would.

To most average Chinese people, Martinez and Magdaleno are giants.

The figure I've seen is 5'5", so yeah roughly 168cm.

Will there be vbookie if the odds come in for the two 12 rounders?

Imagine putting 1000 on Shimming to win a fiver

Seriously, why isn't he fighting somebody better? If they're serious about him fighting for titles next year, the leap over his next three fights is going to be so massive that this fight becomes utterly meaningless in any learning curve anyway.

Viloria be like, "why you take me to China for dis?"

I have to imagine Estrada will be more of a challenge tomorrow morning than Shiming could possibly be a year from now...for a multitude of reasons. (Shiming already being on the decline, not having a style that lends itself to a smooth transition, and the pro game being completely different and requiring more than a pinch of seasoning and 'learning the ropes over again' with there still being room for growing pains even for those decorated amateurs who do have allegedly pro-ready styles)

I'm willing to be taught so I try to limit the expectations of what I might learn, but it is difficult to disagree with you.

No matter what the plan, ****ing guy needs to be fast-tracked. I just wish it was a meaningful fight that we could get excited about.

Hey, Eleazar only has a 20% failure rate. He's typically more likely to at least draw than lose. :!:
