    INVASION: PHILIPPINES VERSUS THE WORLD

It wasn’t the usual hype that often characterizes an asian-latino antagonism in this sport; the usual hype that guarantees a massive sell-out. This one was worse than that. Drawing in to the core of the campaign a false sense of national pride and esteem, the promoters has successfully spelled the commercial success of the fight. A predetermined success that will keep boxing fans and bystanders mesmerized for weeks.

The selling line: Invasion: Philippines Versus the World, a spin-off of the Filipino-Mexican war in boxing which is actually a war for commerce inspired by the huge hit of Manny Pacquiao’s triumphant campaign in retiring Mexican greats. Again the people were at frenzy in (re)defining their phenomenal selves as their countrymen in gloves have clean swept the fight, thwarted the invasion, and kept the “supposed dominance” of Filipinos in divisions south of lightweight a clean mythical record.

There is this false sense of national pride and esteem created by the powerful manipulative media. Charmed by the victorious...

    Yea this was crap.
Just like the whole Philipines vs Mexico World Cup.
Usually its the best Pinoy boxers vs our average Mexican fighters. And they take so much pride in that.
IN the last one the only good fighters were De Leon who completely domintated and Gonzalez who was dominating the whole fight until he got caught with a liver shot.

Roman was highly regarded undefeated Prospect vs a Jouneyman Pinoy Michael Domingo. What happened in that fight??? The Journeyman Pinoy just schooled your Prospect. That's not BS. It just showed that Pinoy boxing if getting better than the Mex Boxing.

Banal KO Cardenas that night too, Cadenas who got a Draw with 9-0 Wilfredo Vasquez Jr on his next fight. I thought Cardenas won that fight. Just to compare how Good pinoy boxers nowadays.

Eric ortiz, a former Champ against an underpowered Gorres??? Pinoy is just superior now.

An Underpowered Gorres, who was naturally bigger than Ortiz. Ortiz was a champion, at 108! A full 2 weight classes below, the 115 pound limit he fought Gorres at. Gorres was the clear favorite in that fight, Ortiz was past his best. And was knocked out in his next fight after Gorres, against Victor Zaleta, a guy with a 2-0 record, thats right just 2 fights.

PLease don't even go there it makes you sound like an ass.

If you hang around here for a while you will notice that it's the Pinoy fans who are always bringing up Mexican fighters.

    Wonder why?

Pinoys always had the history..for some reason after Navarette fighting was not promoted in the country..there was no program whatsoever...Now with PAC, everyone now is trying to make millions like him taking up boxing for money. lets face it fighting in the philippines is in every block why not harness it the right way. The Pinoys are very talented especially when money is dangled in front of them since its still a third world country.

I like to compare PAc to Efren Reyes...we always had the talent in pool in the Phil...its part of our culture ..we grew up playing it

but it didnt explode until Efren invaded America..now everyone followed.. Now the Philippines is the MECCA of pool..the very best players in the world..with Efren the GOAT...It takes time but it'll get there with lower weight boxing.:deal

OMG you are dilusional. You have one good fighter as of right now. Pacquiao and well Donaire i guess. Other than that you have nothing.

How about a real world cup of boxing between the Philipines and Mexico. Where we actually send out our top fighters not just average joes or juanes.
