This content is protected ya know getting hit on the temple like that COULD turn your legs to jello :yep
It was a very light tap to the top of the head/temple, but this is boxing, and I guess any knock to the head has the ability to flick a switch and send you wobbling. But that wasn't the problem. The problem was the way he landed on the floor. His right leg was in a very awkward position. A shame. He would have easily got up to continue fighting if he didn't injure himself.
OF COURSE he woulda shoulda coulda No DOUBT! Problem is he was wobbled, landed on his ass and broke his knee in the process.
I don't know about that, he struggled to get of his back looking dazed! But before that he actually looked a threat looking busy and throwing some good punches! I just don't see how a heavy weight can go down of such a little tap....
All of the symptoms of a temple shot were there. Solis lunges in with a one two, gets hit on the temple in return, stumbles back on unsteady legs and falls flat on his back. Some of you do need to grow a pair of eyes or maybe a brain.
I'm not doubting a temple shot, it's the little power that went into it! If someone got a slight tap to the jaw and went down they would be labled a glass jaw. It was a soft punch which most other boxers could take, and do take in other fights...
Yes he was dazed, but that's normal after a temple shot. But I just think his leg was a major contributor in him not being able to get up properly and shake the cob webs off. A lot of fighters have to get on one knee or stand up, to know where they are and begin their recovering process. Solis, because of his injury, couldn't do either.
it was a decent shot but i think ultimately Solis can only blame himself for his poor conditioning. I think the excess weight he was carrying coming down on the right leg caused the injury and ultimately the stoppage. He may well have taken the shot if he weighed 270lbs instead of coming in lighter, just one of those things. Solis needs to go away from the sport and get all that excess weight off before building some core strength up in his legs, as many people know his ideal weight is around 225lbs - 230lbs. He showed enough in that 1st round for me to think he would have given Vitali at least a decent arguement if he had been well conditioned.
What are you talking about? I'm agreeing with you that it was a legit knockdown, and that the temple shot - as soft as it was - was the sole reason for him going down. But if you're thinking he failed to get up because of that and that alone, then you're kidding yourself. Video evidence shows his leg in a very awkward position.
