Alot of bias gets created about fighters and the same can be made for american fighters but at the same time this is where boxing is prime and the big dollars are made.
Montreal is a big city right now for boxing no need to go to the states! Kessler vs Miranda would had been presented here Andrade is coming here Santos is coming here Kessler vs Bute could be here its good progression
[yt]tgO-sAHRjWo[/yt] to me he boxes like a mug and seems clumsy. but his handspeed and cominations...coupled with his power is damn good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy8U5txYz1M&feature=related just saw this and thought that the kid is him
I thought his balance was OK ... he's only 19 I heard and only has 9 fights under his belt ... he has alot of room to grow ... i'm sure he fine tunes his skills once he takes those gradual steps up in class.
QuebecWarrior ... Alcine looked like **** ... I think that Lemieux was the high light of that fight card.
He's a good fighter, aggressive and powerful. I have fought in the same amateur tournaments as him from time to time, most of his fights ended in stoppages.
A lot of good undefeated up and comers from GYM and Interbox(the two main french canadian promoters). Bute, Lemieux, Greco, Pascal...
Dumb ass? His brother did box; for many years, and was actually a lot better boxer than Steve for many years as well... People make mistakes, kinda like guys who don't know the facts and then run their mouths... Truth is Steve Molitor has an optional defense coming up at Casino Rama and then has a unification bout scheduled with Caballero that's also expected to take place in Rama or at least in Ontario, Canada... David Lemieux I have to agree with Fitz on... I know a few boxers who have felt his power first hand; add in what little I've seen of him myself, and it's still very safe to say that I really like this Kid's future in the sport of boxing... Tony Luis also looked good considering it was only his 1st pro fight. That Kid also was a solid Am, who could possibly make a great Pro one day...
About Lemieux's amateur pedigree... With that firepower, he was an absolute killer in Canada's under-18 circuit, knocking people out left and right. But we also saw his limitations a bit when he stepped up to the international level. He was easily beaten at both the cadet and junior world championships. His decision to go pro at such a young age came from three factors : 1. His goal was always the pro game 2. Because of his style (seek and destroy), his ceiling was lower in the amateurs 3. If ha had stayed amateur, he probably wouldn't have been able to bump Adam Trupish (who is going to his second Olympics) off the Canadian Team. So he would not have been able to gain experience traveling with the national team.
Smart choice for Lemieux... I mean, there is no one other than Trupish going to the Olympics for Canada, there isn't even a National Team Coach for Canada who has almost dropped off the map as far as Amatuer Boxing is concerned (excluding the women)... On top of that, the Kid is now 9-0 w/ 9 ko's as a pro, and the sky really is the limit for David Lemieux at this point...
heis featured in boxing instruction videos on youtube with russ anber when he was loads younger check out the link http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=YisGE4HiwMQ
Know him? I was in the same gym as him. He is a really good fighter although he didnt do so well in the Junior Olympics( he got stopped in the 3rd against a Ukranian fighter). He is amazing on the speedbag.
