A few days ago Valero was called one of the most feared men in boxing, many thought he was on his way to being one of the p4p best, he had been listed as a possible Manny Pacquiao opponent. Then he kills his wife and later kills himself. We all knew he had problems, but who expected this ?
The dude is/ was a hunk of trash. Shoulda killed himself 1st and then tried to kill his wife. (In slightly poor taste, I know)
This is so sad. I don't know these people personally, so I am not going to pretend to be as upset as a relative, but for two young lives to end in this fashion is tragic. This situation makes me want to cry. I am a young father myself and just can't imagine what their poor children are going through. Edwin Valero was one of my favorite current fighters. I just can't believe this.
its the irony of being a boxing fan , we love these guys for their brutality , we fans adore an aggressive fighter , an animal in the ring without ever really thinking about what kind of person they are outside the ring.
Wow, this is just unbelievable. with people like Tyson it was a prolonged and drawn out period of his life where he was consistently troubled. Valero seems to have just lost the plot MAJORLY in a really short time space; domestic abuse allegations, then all of a sudden he's a murderer nd takes his own life. Brutal stuff.
I can't believe it....:-( Ed had a lot of potential and promise. He could have been great....now, we'll never know. I guess his head injury was more severe than we may have thought. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and family members. This is a very tragic situation where everyone has lost. Ed from reports was a mad man when under the influence.
Sad for both lives n sad for a mind to be that bad/disturbed he does such vicious thing. Reminds me of monzon
He will live on in the imaginary fights. Soon, we will start seeing threads matching Valero against boxers of any eras.
I know, it's like a massive enigma or something. Copule of years ago me and my mate were talking about how the likes of Carlos Monzon and Sugar Ray Robinson acted with their wives (or what the accounts and stories portray anyway) and i was like, 'how come loads of great fighters were like that?', and my mate just went 'come on lad, they're violent people', it sort of highlighted how naive i was being. I've just seen Valero on Sky Sports News now by the way. It's definitely true.
I can't think of another champion/titlist who retired with an absolute perfect record in terms of knockouts AND fights. In fact he's defo the only one.
