I'm almost on the Valero express.. until the DUI/Hitting his mother/sister and battery cases started to appear... i know he's a ticking time bomb...

but not expecting him to kill his wife and himself :(

Don't blame boxing. If it's anything, the bike accident caused the damage to his head. He fought cans for most of his career.

Yeah, Valero was the one giving the punishment, not taking it.

How am I blaming boxing? Agreed the bike accident didn't help his situation but I'm saying look at wars in the ring and think to yerself these guys aren't suppose to take all these shots to the head. It makes me appreciate defense more and at the same time fear for their health.

Instead of him killing himself, he could have just stepped up the ring and let Pacman do him the favor. Then he might just not end up in hell.

I'm sure hundreds of rounds of sparring with his 'open' style did a small bit of damage aswell. That coupled with the motorbike accident and alcohol (possibly drugs?) was a recipe for serious brain damage

This is one of the most fu***d u things to ever happen in boxing, i mean its complete craziness. Although, to be fair it could have been avoided, I mean he should have been jail after breaking his wife's ribs.

Yeah that could be possible. Ali used to let people beat him up during sparring and I think that also contributed to his current condition.

These reallly didn't help his brain and I think more than anything caused the man to become mentally unstable.

What a ludicrous turn of events... I was a big fan of Valero, in the ring, at least. I wrote an article about him for ESB back in December, and most of my predictions about the Demarco fight came true... but I never expected this. I even titled the article "2010: The Year of Edwin Valero". Eerie how right I could have been if he was on the straight and narrow, but how his personal life was his downfall. What an absolute shame. Those poor children, his poor beautiful wife.

Keep the violence in the ring. It's a strange, brutal sport we love.

Obviously Valero was troubled by some real serious demons. It is a shame that he killed his wife, and it is a shame this their children will grow up as orphans.

He knew his life was over anyway after killing his wife. His reputation hit rock bottom and he was going to serve life in jail for sure. Of course it's very easy for people with very little responsibility or no responsibility at all as children to sit and judge the man saying he deserves this and this when the majority making judgments can't decide what to do with their $15 weekly allowance. The man was in a very serious sport, his position was getting bigger and better, we always knew he had issues with his wife and we all knew he had issues making fights in the US with his head injury.

I wouldn't say his head injury is what caused this, if he was semi ******ed like a few idiots are trying to claim he wasn't going to make it far enough to become a two weight division champion in a brutal 90% MENTAL sport like this.

I'm not backing him up for killing his wife or killing his self, but there must be a reason behind this. His wife could have provoked it as she always provoked other stuff that happened before it, women can cause this with the stuff they do so this isn't the first time this happens. Of course they answer isn't to kill but when it crosses the line it does and that's what happened. In a sport where patience is also a huge part of success Valero sure as hell was going to crumble sooner or later. As a man your main quality is patience, right judgement, responsibility and control. If he couldn't control his self from something a wife said or did then he doesn't belong here, everyone will hear and see weird ass stuff that would make the smartest go crazy in a snap, you're not here to pick roses.
