This ESPN Haymon Deal is pretty scary..

The death of FNF's will mean better fights, better cards, a bigger audience - how can you possibly complain about that?

 

And where do you think this newfound motivation from the ABC belt orgs to start working together for unifications is coming from?

 

its true that FNF purses and production costs were risible but there were a lot of shows and any half decent fighter got good expousure from it.

 

So you think that an acceptable answer to this simple question:

'Who is the [insert class]weight champion of the world?'

is:

'Look up four competing and conflicting sanctioning bodies; try and figure out what 'interim', 'regular', 'super', 'diamond', 'silver', 'emerald' categories actually means relative to the categories listed by other sanctioning bodies; and then decide for yourself. If you can't work it out you are of low intelligence.'

Not only is that arrogant, but it is also a recipe for confusion and chaos.

Better that we reduce the power of these sanctioning bodies. They are just interested in fees.

 

I don't know how I feel here. Im happy Haymon got us boxing back on free network TV and is expanding it to a bunch of networks and finally pairing his large stable into good fights with each other

But I don't like how theres going to really be no competition no other promoters or managers showing their product on TV

Yes FNF, FS1 and NBCSN started to get stale but it was boxing and it was boxing provided by 3 different sources

 

I understand why you would think that but the three ABC's cooperating started before Haymon made any moves. The catalyst was Sulaimon's death and his son taking over who has a very different vision from his Father in addition to being a response to AIBA Pro Boxing and AIBA's efforts to cast itself as pro boxing's savior via one global governing body.

 

In that case, isnt the AIBA doing what people say Haymon is trying to do?

Whoever gets it done, there will eventually come a time where theres one governing body. Boxing is pretty much the one sport that doesnt have a true global governing body

 

Hell no they're cyphoning off talent that could and should be in the pros it's especially bad for the HW's. Medzhidov, Omarov, Nistor, Hrgovic, Pfeifer and all these other guys would make the divisions future look alot more promising. As it stands there's Joshua, Parker and that's about it.

 

I'm against fracturing of the sport whether it's PBC or APB preventing guys from turning pro.
