My main reason being is people think ricky is avery flawed, beatable and one dimensional fighter. People said the same about frazier before the fight of the century

Mayweather styles is a bit like ali. he relys on speed a lot. he is fundamentally better than ali

Hatton is like frazier minus the great left hook to the head. hatton makes up for that with his great left hook to the body

Floyd is a bit too cocky like ali before that fight. Ali was also a real prcik to joe like

UNLIKE THE FIGHT OF THE CENTURY, THIS FIGHT IS ONLY 12 ROUNDS. NOT ENOUGH FOR A FIGHT LIKE THIS.

WE NEED TO GO BACK TO 15 ROUNDS. THATS ONE OF THE BIGGEST FACTORS IN DESTROYING BOXINGS POPULARITY

the sport would stil be mainstream if we still had 15 round superfights

Mayweather-Hatton has some similarities to Frazier-Ali, yes.

15 rounds? I really don't care much about 3 more rounds or 9 more minutes of fights. 12 is okay.

Boxing's popularity has decreased because of the sanctioning bodies.

Yeah, I've always thought that this fight is closer to Ali/Frazier than Leonard/Duran. In the Leonard/Duran fight, Leonard chose to try and beat Duran at his own game, to stand and trade from the ropes instead of sticking and moving. There's no way Mayweather Jr does the same (I would be shocked if he did) and so he'll be moving and trying to potshot Hatton as Hatton comes in. The difference is that Ali was a little faded after his exile, and couldn't dance as well as before, whereas Mayweather is still mostly seen as in his prime, albeit not his best weight class, and I doubt he'll have much trouble with his usual constant movement tactics. Should be interesting.

It doesn't have the overriding issues of the war or race. That fight somehow got rolled into an Establishment (Frazier) vs anti-establishment (Ali) row where Frazier represented pro-war, pro-government etc etc and Ali was against all that and represented the 'left' of the country.

The desperete attempts by the promoters to try and turn this into a White vs Black, USA vs Britain war has thankfully fallen flat on its face and quite rightly been mostly ignored.
