Not exactly Hagler vs Hearns was it! I thought GGG would give Canelo a test but at least there's no disputing this decision.
Agreed Canelo looked slower and his gas tank was even worse than usual. I think Canelo's long career is catching up to him GGG just looked old.
Bathos was on the cards before the ink was dry on the contract for this one. I recall one regular tried giving me a hard time for pointing this out when it was signed.
I think you guys are just disappointed because Canelo couldn't knock out GGG. GGG has always troubled Canelo. What did you expect from an old fighter? He closed strong.
I agree. I expected much more from canelo but I'm starting to think canelo is declining he has about 2 or 3 big fights left in him.
Agree. Even though Canelo got dominated by Bivol, I thought he was actually worse tonight against GGG. He was content just to cruise, whereas he actually pushed forward and had some moments (albeit few) against Bivol And GGG was so poor I don’t even need to explain that Usually someone gets robbed in Canelo fights; tonight that was us, the fans were robbed of our money and time
It was Leonard-Duran 3 all over again. They better select their next opponents wisely. In particular, GGG
Could care less about that. I respect Canelo's skills, but my post history shows I'm no fan (I've argued that both these guys are glorified B+ dudes, notwithstanding the advertising) and I wasn't banking on or expecting Canelo to stop him (figured it was within the realms of possibility, but points was always the smart money). Third fight was just always likely to end in anticlimax is all, and so it did.
GGG had that Homer Simpson strategy where he did nothing the whole fight and Canelo still got tired. I put all the blame on G thought for this **** show disguised as drama show. Canelo was trying to do his thing and threw solid combos.
The fight was poor. Both looked bad. GGG looked old and very slow (he looked exactly the same vs Derevyanchenko 3 years ago - I think he lost that fight in 2019 but got a gift). And Canelo looked unimpressive, bad stamina, lost few later rounds in a fight where he should've dominated thoroughly given how faded GGG is. Seems like Canelo is too past it (or it was just awful performance from his side).
GGG looked poor in his prior bout so I expected that and have posted it relentlessly all week. People were kidding themselves thinking this fight would be competitive like the first two. He can't pull the trigger anymore. Even the late rounds he was not punching with the kind of malice he did in the past. But Canelo was a huge disappointment. He has devolved into a one-shot counterpuncher with no imagination. He either won't or can't sustain an offensive attack or set up anything, other than baiting the other guy into making mistakes. And he's fairly shopworn at this point. He has had a great career obviously but the moving up and down in weight and taking whatever chemicals he's putting into his body appears to have caused him to decline.
