Who want's to see this fight really....for what...it says and does nothing. I for one don't need to see Floyd jump up so much in weight, to loose speed and power and defend his way to a boring UD...

Who the **** is Martinez comparatively anyway...if he beats Mayweather at 160 it proves nothing - if Mayweather beats him thats great n all - but really who gives a ****.

this fight is important as martinez is the lineal wbc middleweight champion if floyd beats him at 160 for the belt and pacquiao for me he will be a ATG top 5 and the best boxer in this era a fight with him at 154 don't make no sense but 160 does

This is a BIG fight. But a bit too early now imo.. Martinez needs first to rematch Williams and maybe Pavlik to clean out the division and make a bigger name for himself

In the mean time Floyd should fight Pac and Cotto.

If the 160 fight is against Williams, Martinez or Pavlik doesn´t make a difference imo. Just who comes out on top.

If Floyd wins all these 3 fights he is close to, or maybe even is top 10 ATG imo

After that he can retire. He can also go to 168 to fight the winner of the super 6 vs Bute winner. To try to become the undisputed 168 champion. But that might be a bridge to far imo. 160 would be pretty tough already

Martinez is too big for floyd.

He doesn't even cap out at WW.

Because Top Rank is itself decoying Margarito for Pacquiao, and you better believe Arum is serious about it. These are all part of negotiations for the big one.

Martinez should fight PWill/Cintron winner before he thinks about fighting anyone.

I'd love to see May and Sergio duke it out though. Wouldn't be surprised to see Mayweather deal with him.

I think it would be a highly intriguing fight, actually. 154 or 160. Floyd's already won a title at 154 and never at 160 but Martinez isn't a natural middleweight there either and it's not like Floyd would need to bulk up.

Agree with the thread starter, if Mayweather beats Martinez he will get the plaudits of getting the strap but at this point that is not even important. The guy has numerous titles at different weight classes.

Its about the opponent and Martinez offers nothing Mayweather hasn't seen before.

Also, why is it that after being beaten by Williams, Martinez started to be touted as a possible fight.

People are just trying to create a fighter to beat Floyd and because no one can do it at 147 or 154 all of sudden he should move to 160. The guy weighed in at 146 in his last fight and struggled to make 150 when he faced Oscar.

He should fight Pac, Williams if he comes down to 147 or maybe 154. He's already the best of his era but beating those two would definately push him in to the legend status in most peoples mind.

All this other crap is just people trying to find anybody with a slight chance of beating him. If he beats Martinez he'll only be ducking Khan, Berto and Bradley next.

Fight is not worth the risk at 160. Floyd would have to box on the defensive and get a decision. PPV match it is not.

PBF fights for $. Martinez is mostly unknow to the casual fan. After KP KO's him in the rematch his 15 mins. of fame will be over.
