This fight sums up boxing superbly.

2 contrasting styles give it their all in a proper slugfest. A tremendous pace with some brilliant skills on showcase aswell as near indomiatable wills.

It sums up boxing so well, one guy is aggressing constantly and throwing alot of shots but is missing alot, the other is countering with well placed shots but is not as active. The pace and drama adds even more to the fight.

Also it has some of the smoothest, most natural counterpunching I have ever seen.

Give it up for Toney vs Jirov.

I had it 117-109 but it was a fight where it was waht you liked to an extent.

The thing about Toney - who is one of my favourite fighters ever - is that around the time of his Jirov/Holyfield victories it was possible to match him up versus any fighter at these weights with a clear conscience. Not that you'd expect him to beat the top guys but he really does look that good. Of course, we know he has weaknesses which top-line men would always exploit. But when he's on song against a suitable opponent he looks absolutely outstanding, like he does here.

    Great, great fight.

He looks like an ATG at times. Such a talent, the way he counterpunches is so natural, just like walking he swings a right uppercut counter. Sure he loses to the top guys but some guys he destroys. Overrall though he would lose to the top class guys.

Toney is pure class in this fight, love how the pace hardly seems to effect him as he rolls and counters. The stuff he does in round 3 is magical, almost Locche esque defence whilst spring up and down and landing hard shots.

Thing about this fight Tney basically satisfies all my criterea when i'm scoring a fight. Defence, ring generalship and clean punching.

Jirov made Steve collins look like boxing finesse personified.

    :rofl:rofl

Thing is Jirov was an alright boxer in his amatuer days, but he really just was a come forward, outwork you kinda guy.

I love Steve Collins, in the Eubank fight he gets pushed down to his knees but he keeps punching while on his knees and gets up while punching.

This is one of the best Toney fights to watch, to me. I was crazy over it when it happened. I should watch it again.
