http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O09y--0m0Wg and please don't give the "oh he's got a huge heart" bull****... 1 - he has no place in mma 2 - how ****ing embarrassing this **** is for the sport ? 3 - how ****ing stupid , letting an amputee against a valid fighter? mma isn't the para-olympics & i don't think Maynard would even have his place if an mma version of would exist. I'm not a heartless ******* but this is just beyond ridiculous. Not to mention ****ing DANGEROUS.
yea I was thinking more like a dog. Its a shame he didn't get KO'ed, now he may think he has a chance and try another match, next time maybe getting seriously injuried. The guy has NO defense against strikes and no strikes himself what does he think this is a wrestling match? Someone is gonna hurt this guy badly one day, I hope he realizes this and steps down from fighting.
That is wrong, simple as that. Nobody is going to be laughing when he fights someone who is going to knock him spark out, raining punches on his defenseless face until he starts to foam at the mouth.
This was an unsanctioned match. No athletic commission would let this go on. Kudos to him for trying - but Maynard is lucky this guy didn't soccer kick him and rain down blows on him.
agreed absolutely ****ing disgusting. not usually one to make a moral stance and all for equal rights but it was like putting a girl in a car parking competition.
Who in their right mind would take a fight against him? Punching an amputee? ****ing crazy stuff! Is biting ankles allowed?
I agree theres no way this should be happening. It scares me what will happen to this guy if he fights agian.
I could beat the **** out of Maynard right now in a heartbeat, so i don't know what he's trying to prove?
He can't fight. He can step into the cage 100 times and he'll never fight for one single second. Noone is ever going to even try and hurt that guy so what's the point? :huh
I think the point is that MMA is for anyone. It was only an amateur fight and the kid did pretty good considering. Thing is UFC was found to promote BJJ and how it could be used by a smaller guy to beat the bigger guy. Now this is where MMA has gone, I wouldn't say this is going to be the new model for MMA but I think Maynard has as much of a right as anyone else to compete, he is just another version of the smaller guy. If he get KO'd doe s it mean he did so because of his handicapped or because he didn't follow through on his game plan? His opponent took the fight apparently because his brother is handicapped and he liked Maynards outlook on life I guess. I couldn't believe this guy wanted to try this at first but I figured his trainers wouldn't let him do so unless he could protect himself. I am all for him competing again.
I don't think he will for long. He will never be pro, he said that it took 30 wrestling matches till he got a victory and he wouldn't look to well if it took that long in MMA. He knows where he is at, the was a guy who only had one arm who fought like two years ago and he didn't do too bad either. I like the idea of having a combat sport where absolutely anybody can compete, and we don't have a special olympics type league to hide them in, I doubt anyone will sanction this stuff but at least we got to see it go down and it wasn't something grotesque and nobody had a reason to be ashamed.
