Arum has been trying to build up a fighter to fight mayweather all these years, margarito cotto and now pacquiao cotto was 'too green' then he got demoished margarito cheated and also was demolished pacquiaos cheating and is demolishing bobs own stable arum is a scum bag looking for the biggest money fight of the century :fire mayweather looks pretty smart to me leaving uncle bob arum based on this single post alone
i think if cotto made it past margarito he would have been ready for mayweather, i think mayweather cotto at that point of have been epic the mayweather camp is too smart, this is what they do great fight but cotto wouldnt last, thats the truth and this is coming from a die hard cotto fan, sorry amigos but thats boxing!
Yes, continue. Because there are ZERO ww who faught ALL ww. And FYI... Judah & Baldomir were the top 2 ww at the time. Shane was also the top ww. Oscar was the top sww. Cotto was not the top ww... Clottey was not the top ww.. Margarito was not even ranked in the top 10 @ ww or 154. Oscar was not a top ww OR a top 154 pounder at the time. So, yes... continue.
it's funny though cause that shot that Maywaether lands 27 seconds into the video, Pacquiao landed that same shot on Cotto several times.
May'be he would have done that, but we will never know, because he never fought them. It's all about what you do in the ring, and not somebody's opinion regarding a fantasy fight. He "could have" done this and "would have" done that is bull**** and he didn't do that when he had the chance and we will never know. All a matter of opinion now which is a shame.
Floyd at 135 was the most impressive fight I've ever seen **** all yal thats the truth. I ain't no nut hugger. I'm a boxing fan.
Floyd at 135 who arguably lost to Castillo (good but not great) and was taken the distance by Victoriano Sosa in a sloppy fight.
He looked considerably more impressive at 130. And 140 as well, although you can attribute much of that to the opposition. The only 135 lb. fight he looked really that good in was the Ndou fight.
When Mayweather first called him out was in 2005, De La Hoya was 32. First off Margo doesn't have better measurements than DLH they are about the same in measurement. DLH blows him out in hand speed, boxing skill, and blows him out in the trainer department. I don't know why you are trying to sneak in the mummy that Pac fought at 147. Second DLH was the WBC Light Middle Weight Champion when Mayweather fought him. Margarito couldn't beat Daniel Santos at Light Middle Weight. He also lost to Paul Williams. His best wins were vs Cintron and Clottey. Margo has not done much in the ring to prove he was ever worthy of Mayweather. Mayweather then went on to beat the crap out of Mosley who is better then Margo in every single way. From hand speed, to power, to boxing skills, to trainer, to matching chin. Cotto didn't face Mayweather, Hatton, Tzyu or Gatti at 140 even though they were all considered the top 140pders. You blame Mayweather for not fighting at 140 yea yea yea but what about the other fighters? Why didn't he fight Hatton or Tzyu or Gatti? Your talking about DLH but Cotto barley beat a 36yr old Mosley at WW. That's his best win. Cotto won his first Jr Welterweight belt in 2003 fought there for 3yrs 14 fights. He only went after vacated belts rather then challenging the recognized champs. He didn't challenge Tzyu for any of his belts or challenge Hatton after he beat Tzyu or Mayweather after he beat Gatti. You know why because his camp viewed him as to green and they didn't want to put him in with the big dogs yet. (Mayweather if your keeping score challenged recognized champs such as Hernandez, Castillo, Gatti, Judah, Baldomir, De La Hoya and took there titles, he could have took Mosley's title as well that he got from Margo who beat Cotto) When Cotto moved up to 147 in Dec 06 he fought Quintana for the vacated WBA title (Hatton beat Collazo for then went back down to 140). Rather then challenging recognized champs at the time(Judah, Mayweather, Baldomir, Cintron, Margarito. Don't tell me he was ready for Mayweather but had to test the waters rather then fight any of those guys). Then defended his vacated belt 4 times before losing to Margo. Paul Williams was the WBO champ at 147 in 2007, Cintron was the IBF champ during that time, Mayweather was the IBO champ during this time. So since Mayweather was supposedly ducking him why didn't Cotto challenge Williams for his WBO? or Cintron for his IBF? Because fighting Urkal and Judah and 36 yr old Mosley were more "test" for Cotto rather then allowing him to fight the champs. The only champ that Cotto has ever challenged for his belt was Foremen. Cotto has also never challenged the top rated fighter in his weight range for that fighters belt. In 2007 Williams beat Margo, Cotto fights 36yr old Mosley over Williams(but thats okay because he isn't Mayweather). Then goes on to fight Alfonso Gomez rather then challenging Williams(That's also okay because he isn't Mayweather). Then fights Margo for an in house fight after he beats Cintron. Mayweather went up in weight and TOOK fighters belts. Cotto fought for vacated titles and defended his vacated titles against B level comp all the way up to Mosley who they chose because they felt he was past it at 36. They choose that path because they new he wasn't ready for prime time not just vs Mayweather. World titles Cotto has won has been vs Kelson Pinto, Carlos Quintana, Michael Jennings and Yuri Forman.
I agree with almost everything said here, but your comments about the 36 yr old Mosley are off, who at that time and maybe even now is better than Kermit the frog, also while Mosley was clearly past it ( which we both agree is the only reason Cotto won) He was still much better in 07, than he was 2010, when Mayweather fought him.
At that specific time Kirmit was locked in with Margo. But Paul Williams was available and he already defeated Margo. Plus he could have fought Cintron as soon as he went up in weight before Mosley even came down. I'm just proving the string of Cotto not jumping in the fire right away taking on champs, but rather the fights he took were test and ways for him to improve his skills. If Cotto was "the man" at 140 and was so ready for Mayweather at 140 yet Mayweather ducked him then why didn't he challenge the best at 147 right away? Hatton fought Mayweather in his second fight at WW. Gatti fought Baldomir at WW in his 2nd fight after losing to Mayweather. Hatton and Gatti targeted the top ranked WWs right away after moving up. Mayweather fought Judah and Baldomir who were the top 2 ranked WWs in his 2nd and 3rd fight at WW. Why wasn't Cotto's first or 2nd fight at WW vs Margarito or Cintron if he was indeed challenging Mayweather who was ducking him? Why didn't he face Cintron or Margarito instead of Urkal who lost to Vivian Harris at 140 and beat nobody worth mentioning at 147 to even get a title shot? Or Judah who just came off losses to Baldomir and Mayweather? Why was Gatti, Hatton able to get big fights with Tzyu, Mayweather, and Baldomir. Yet Cotto who was "the man" at 140 was fighting the scraps? Also the double standard of how Mayweather gets criticized for fighting De La Hoya the middle weight champ at 34yrs old over Cotto who was clearly not looking to challenge any of the champs. But its okay for Cotto to fight a 36 yr old Mosley or Alfonso Gomez and not fight Paul Williams for his championship belt?
