Like I've been saying, a slick boxer is Bumlovkin Kryptonite. That Russian guy was putting on a right hand clinic.

 

Ggg got robbed in that fight in the Olympics he shoulda actually got the gold. But it is a wise gameplan, like what Mosley did with Margarito. I think it's a blueprint I'd probably see someone like Ward using on Ggg.

 

Toney was the more smooth, damaging in fighter compared to Hopkins, but I'm not the biggest fan of his (at times) lazy footwork and vulnerability to workrate. Getting Golovkin there would be the tricky part for James. Hopkins wasn't the counterpuncher on the inside James was, but his spoiling tactics would be more effective in disrupting distance and rhythm against GGG IMO.

Clearly he won a tonne more fights, and he probably lost another handful too.

Pulev was supposed to have lost single figures as amateur, the same verifiable source I have states he lost nearly 30!

Promoters think no one will take the time to check amateur databases.

Golovkin's 'Five' amateur losses is total bull****, sadly.

 

What record do they say he has on televised matches?

 

For me, the purest slick boxer around his weight divisions is Lara and I would not pick him over Golovkin.

(even if he was a bit bigger and had a better chin).

That was not the point of the comment. Point was; GGG is an amateur legend with a stunning record (5 losses or otherwise), suggesting the way to beat him is boxing him is ridiculous as if he's an unknown nobody who never face a skillful boxer before.

 

You can't outbox GGG. I thought we figured that out by now. He's too good at cutting off the ring, too precise, too powerful.

GGG ain't no puzzle to be solved. He is just a decent boxer with above average power who has been feasting on lesser fighters. Once he starts fighting true boxer/ punchers we will see what he's really made of. I don't hate him as a fighter, I'm just not ready to crown him King of boxing when his credentials don't warrant it.

 

Ward will try to head butt GGG to death and clinch. It would be a horrendous fight to watch. Ward's head butts are all intentional. He likes to headbutt people with the side of his head so he avoids cutting himself and is in a better position to grab and clinch faster. Its as clear as day when you watch him fight. Bika and Kessler are two prime example of intentional butts.

 

GGG is a very good fighter and has disposed of the guys in front of him. But to say it's impossible he can be outboxed simply isn't true. MW isn't exactly a good division and is completely barren of skillful technical boxers. Golovkin has not fought anyone who was thought to have a competitive chance against him, not even in the slightest. There are no fighters close to elite on his resume and that won't change come October.

These are the odds for GGGs past fights. Now I am aware that this is also reflective of GGG being a very strong, solid fighter. But it's also a reflection of there being no elite competition at MW besides himself as well.
