One thing to consider is that three of those losses were maybe robberies so he didn't really count those..

 

Which is exactly the reason his team isn't rushing to put him in the ring with Ward.:deal

 

Gaidarbekov should have turned pro.

He and El Barbaro del Ring are some of the biggest missed opportunities of the past generation or two. (along with Camarrelle)

 

Because he has unification fights lined up in his own weight class?

Maybe that might have something to do with it? Or maybe the fact that he has never fought at SMW?

That's a possibility. Some of his amateur losses are really bogus, like losing to Dirrell 15-14 in the US, the same guy he heavily dominated on neutral ground. Also a close loss to a Thai boxer in Thailand. If he's ignoring those (3) losses and that's how it's 5 and not 8, I'd say 5 is accurate. Some amateur decisions are truly criminal, not unlike Floyd having been robbed in the '96 olympics.

 

So you dump on his resume yet are very aware that he is being ducked by guys in his own division.

They will have to either fight him or vacate the WBC. Another strap he can claim. If he beats Lemiux he then can go on and unfiy his 3rd title with only the WBO remaining and Andly Lee has publicly stated he is willing to fight GGG.

 

Word.

 

The only one who will have to vacate is Cotto if he wins. The WBC isn't making Canelo, who they want to be their champ, do anything.

 

Im not sure what final agreement was reached or if there is one in place but last i remember from June was that Loeffler was pushing both parties and the WBC to sign a contract that winner takes on GGG as he took step aside money for Cotto vs Canelo to happen.

If Cotto or Canelo are not forced to face GGG and continue to hold the WBC hostage all while fighting at catchweights its a black eye for this sport(set the Ward-GGG bs aside and surely you can see that).

 

That's exactly what's going to happen. The winner of the fight isn't going to want their momentum possibly stopped by GGG and the WBC will support that if Canelo is the winner.

 

WBC can't just free Canelo from his obligation to fight Golovkin because it suits them, they're a sporting organizaiton and yes, they do do some dubious **** but this would be a heavy hit to their reputation. They can't just do what they want.
