Golota won that 12th round & this ***** gave it to Byrd & thats what caused the draw & not a HW Title win for Golota! :fire This content is protected
Byrd took over the fight in the second half and probably did enough to win it.A draw isn't such a bad verdict at all.Golota has a far more convincing case of being robbed against Ruiz than he does against Byrd.
Here are a few clues you should be letting go: - You find yourself repeating the same complaint to different people. - You keep focusing on what could have been if... - You believe pierogis beat foie gras any day...
On the contrary...I thought Golota let up in the 2nd half against Ruiz & thats why the "Champ" retained his title that night. Ruiz had a couple of decent rounds at the end. I was at MSG for that fight & witnessed it 1st hand.
Golota was a better fighter than Byrd. Prime for prime, it's a mismatch, but I still think Golota deserved to beat Byrd. So should Oquendo, for that matter. Golota is an underrated fighter though. Judging him at his best, he deserves to be ranked quite highly in heavyweight history.
^^^^^^^^^^ Love watching Byrd fight. No idea why he used to get so much flack as being a boring, safety-first fighter, because that really wasn't his style at all.He was more than willing to stand in the pocket against men much larger than himself and fight.
