Hey Guys, I'm not trolling or anything, being serious here, but since I've stopped running (due to LCL injury in my knee) my fitness/stamina has shot up impressively? I can't run anymore and because of this i thought my fitness was gonna go to **** but since i've stopped it has increased dramatically :think do any of you boxing geniuses or fitness guys know the reason to this? :bbb
A lot of people have the same feeling and the reason is probably because you were doing too much, so your body never got out of a state of fatigue. Having a good period of rest will help your body recover fully.
Agree with this. It's about training smart, too many people fatigue their bodies and never allow enough rest period inbetween. I think 6-7 days a week running is excessive especially if your doing around 5 miles a day. To relate it back to boxing, most boxers will run everyday but then start tapering off 2 weeks before they fight especially the last week to allow their bodies enough time to rest and peak for the day of the fight. Having said that the main reason your feeling great now is because of all the running and training you did so you wouldn't be feeling so good without the hardwork you put in. As i said before it's all about giving your body enough recovery time to heal and maybe you should do 3 weeks on and 1 week off once you're fit enough to start training again.
