Wilder would not have agreed to fight Fury if he thought he was not shot, so here's his plan: 1. Take the Seferi fight two months too early and look really bad, make everyone think that he's shot 2. Make the fight with Wilder. Since Wilder thinks it would be a cake walk it's easy to make 3. Wilder can't back out of it when he looks exceptional vs Pianeta since he's already on the record saying he'll fight Fury next + the debacle with Joshua... He would ruin his reputation completely 4. Beat Wilder, become a belt holder + still the lineal champion - now he's number 2, number 1 in the eyes of many people 5. Massive clash with Joshua, possibly the highest grossing boxing match ever Tyson Fury is a genius!
Well, that's one way things might play out. But he has to remain focused and disciplined, and then he needs to beat Pianeta, and then he needs to actually beat Wilder. If he can do all of that and execute to plan, then yes - a genius, indeed.
Fury is the MACK DADDY but he rarely looks exceptional. Even in his prime he just 'gets the job done'. Still I love the man.
Fury was toying with Seferi, it wasn't a boxing match. It was a circus. Fury will look much better vs Pianeta. And he will be in PERFECT shape vs Wilder. He will jab Wilders head off as he did it with Wlad.
Good plan but Wilder is a grandmaster at making excuses. If he think Fury is near his best Wilder will find a way out.
I said the same thing in another thread earlier today. If that's what he is doing it's a genius move. Either Wilder will get beaten by a surprisingly resurgent Fury or Wilder pulls out for some fake reason and is made to look like a total fraud. Either way Fury wins massive kudos and it might actually position Fury as the fight fans most want to see vs Joshua as Wilder get labelled as a ducker vs Fury and Joshua, leaving only Fury as a realistic opponent.
This would be a masterpiece from Fury, if that was all strategy and Wilder thinks he will have an easy time with a **** Fury but suddenly Fury on fight night would be in the shape of his life and dancing circles around him in the ring, too good to be true though.
Exactly what I thought. He weighed only 6 more pounds against seferi than his previously highest weight. He's back already!
The irony is when Wilder splatters Fury which I know he would, you guys will change the narrative. You will make all kinds of excuse about how rusty he was. How out of shape he was. You wouldn't give Wilder credit.
There will never be highest grossing match in UK, not even top 5. Considering population of UK and prices of PPV in UK , it’s impossible .
