Remind me when Wlad fought a puncher as varied, powerful, fast and accurate as Louis?

    And don't ****ing say Sanders!

And Wlad isn't really that fast.

  3. hey im not even suggesting waldo wins, just i feel wladimirs speed means hes a different animal to carnera...

Listen im not adversed to your opinion, you are right on alot of matters...so im fair with you on this, its your constant verbal dribble about how bad today era is (heavyweights), and making out any old timer is far better than the reality.

Go and search newspaper articles of the time, alot of experts scoffed at Willard, he was poor enough said. We all know this era is not strong, the match ups between the best arent happening and thats across the whole sport not just the heavyweight ranks, this is the area that dosent help the sport but still there are alot of good fighters.

Your constantly barking like a madman at anything happening today, its laughable then you resort to petty insults which unfortunately I succumb too aswell only as your irritating.

Your the only poster with a brain on here that spouts the same 'theme' where it is clear you hate anything today, so dont go with 'why do I bother you mantra', as I dont bother with simpletons. You have a brain so stop being bloody biased. Everyone else that has common sense does not show such biased dogma.

Keep to objective truths, facts and a balanced analysis.

I always back up my opinions with analysis. But your points are fair.

I'm more than aware of Willard's reputation. Which is why if you look back a few posts you'll see I slag him off. Horrendously.

I do think today's era isn't as strong, across the board. That's my opinion and it's not born out of 'bias'. My question is, why would someone argue tooth and nail for old timers? What would I get out of favouring them?

Each to their own. And your post was fair and balanced, I actually came off quite well, thanks :D And don't find me irritating, just don't pay me any attention, I post a fair bit and I'm outspoken, but it shouldn't detract from a pleasant forum experience for anyone :good

Hey I agree! Deductive reasoning leads me to believe Primo wasn't as fast as degraded celluloid can sometimes make him appear :D

Look, I said earlier on, Wlad causes problems for Joe, he has him down at some point probably. But I see what Louis brings to the table troubling Wlad far more than vice versa, that's all :good And that's not old time bias, that's because it's Joe Louis, who remains the best all-round puncher I have ever seen.

I don't subscribe to the often expressed opinion that Carnera was a no-talent stumblebum. I think he was a pretty good fighter. He was dedicated to the sport, always came in top shape, had a fair jab and decent power, and lots of heart. Look how many times he got up against Joe. But of course, against the great Joe Louis he didn't have a chance.

Carnera didn't have Wlad's power, his jab or his defense. He also didn't have Wlad's brains, according to the reports I've read. Not even close. His ring smarts were minimal, as exemplified by the number of times he got up from a knockdown immediately rather than staying down for a 9 count.

So I don't think the comparison between Primo and Wlad is valid. Louis would be facing a more formidable threat in Wlad and might not end the fight standing up.

Nature over Nurture. Wlads defence is good but not impenetrable. Joe by KO as he has too much for Wlad to cover all the angles.

Nice balanced post. Another example of his Heart would be against Max Baer, knocked down numerous times and supposedly carrying on with a broken ankle.

I wouldn't compare Carnera to Wlad directly. But it showed that Louis wasn't pitiful against massive opponents.

Yeah, Baer beat up on Carnera and Joe Louis had some fun on his cranium as well but boxrec it alone and you can see this man was a big guy who made his mark in history.

I found you irritating when you told me to **** off, or you say im trolling not in a huge way as this in the internet. I just dont want impressionable people thinking this era is so so bad.

Always been fair with you, it just when you had fanboys coming in of course I had to respond.

Anyhow no one is saying Wladimir or Vitali is better than Joe Louis, not anyone with common sense. Only on the forum do you find such filth. What I cant accept is bringing up average heavyweights and making out they are better than another average heavyweight just to spruce up Holmes, dont worry Holmes legend is made already.

What I will say though is Wladimir has proven to be a great fighter and derserves the hall of fame...deffo top 25 guy now. His resume is decent, and his longevity top level.

Vitali the same, but again we have to see when its all over.

Anyways without me keeping you in check youd have the ****ing forum belive Don Cockerll would beat up Wlad. :nut

You dont even have to use the big guys of the 30s, you can use modern day heavies...Chambers and Haye both slighlty heavier but around the same weight.

Whilst Louis weighed from 198-215....he somtimes weighed 207 prime wise when facing the bigger man so at 6'1/12 to 6'2 depending reports Louis when taking into account Chambers and Haye success with Wlad would have done ok.

See helped you out there....and for Dr Mo and Mallet the spastic insepctor-

    Joe Louis - 6'1 1/2 or 6'2 - 207pounds for the big guys

    E. Chambers 6'1 209pounds

    D. Haye 6'2 1/2 or 6'3 210pounds

    :D

A guy with little movement and fairly easy to hit (Bowe) vs a guy who's main weapons are jab and straight right (Wlad)?

That's the worst possible match up imo.
