If Joshua was the American and Wilder the Brit would Blizzy be all over Wilder? No he'd be doing what most people with an ounce of sense are doing and scoffing at Wilder and giving Joshua the props he deserves.. & he damn well knows it! But the morose triballist in him overrides any logic or sense of perspective. The guy is so stuck in the 80's he still thinks grandmaster flash is cutting edge!

Wilder has had 5 voluntary defenses since 2015.

    Molina
    Duhaupaus
    Szpilka
    Arreola
    Washington

For proper placement you have to judge him against his peers and in the past two years we saw a remarkable amount of fights between rated fighters. You are telling me with these many guys willing to fight each other, Wilder with the WBC belt as leverage, couldn't get any of these guys in the ring for any of his voluntary defenses? I don't buy it.

Fights between RING top 10 heavies since 2015
    Povetkin vs Perez
    Klitschko vs Jennings
    Klitschko vs Fury
    Ortiz vs Jennings
    Glazkov vs Martin
    Joshua vs Martin
    Joshua vs Klitschko
    Joshua vs Whyte
    Joshua vs Breazeale
    Parker vs Ruiz Jr

Along with Pulev who got crushed by Wlad in 2014, Wilder is in fact the only heavyweight in the RING top 10 that has not faced another contender in the last 24 months. Despite fighting 5 times!

Lets bear in mind the very relevant point that Joshua fouvght Wlad in his 19th fight and Wilder fought Washington in what is nearly his 40th contest. Thats extremely important and you know it, lets not start reaching that badly. If Joshua is fighting 5 Voluntaries against the same level of opponents as Wilder between 35-40 fights ill criticise him. As it stands he is 19 fights deep and fought a future HOF and ATG, whether we think that Wlad is shot or not, its more than Wilder has done in double the fights.

You have to try really hard not to fight a top 10 opponent in 5 optional fights. Speaks volumes about how reluctant Wilder and his team are. What are they hiding?

This is an excellent, well researched post highlighting what most people think about Wilder and his level of competition.

What amazes me is that Wilder's fans are now coming out of the woodwork saying that AJ/Parker are not interested in a Wilder fight but yet conveniently forgot about Wilder's abysmal run of voluntary defences, probably the worst I can think of in recent times.

I don't have the motivation to respond to this right now as I'm in work, but I agree with your last paragraph. I do enjoy subject matter debate, the issue is you get posters like @BlizzyBlizz who are one-dimensional, emotional and not objective when it comes to fighters they like. He degenerates most legitimate debates when it comes to Wilder into an emotional personal insult-fest and his response when he gets backed into a corner is usually something along the lines of "lmfaoaoaoo smhhh you dksab..lolROFl".

The irony of you calling Pulev a bum yet he would be by far the best opponent Wilder would have faced. Pulev is also an enforced mandatory by the IBF, so it's not Hearn and AJ's choice. You have no leg to stand on when it comes to Wilder's level of opposition and choice of opponents, none.

Really puts it into perspective. There's a reason Wilder doesn't face good competition, and Dustin Nichols and Harold Sconiers exposed it years ago.

Outside of Wilder's unprecedented 5 voluntary defenses, there have only been 3 other voluntary title defenses in the last two years. They have all been between RING and ESPN top 5 fighters at the time:

    Joshua vs Klitschko: 2017
    Martin vs Joshua: 2016
    Klitschko vs Jennings: 2015

Another interesting note. Klitschko only made 8 voluntary defenses in his 9 plus year reign. 2 were official unification bouts. 1 was for the RING title. 1 against a top 5 contender. 1 against a top 10 contender. 3 were against non-top 10.

    They were as follows:
    2015 Jennings-top 5
    2013 Pianeta
    2012 Wach
    2012 Mormeck
    2011 Haye-Unification
    2009 Chagaev-RING title
    2008 Ibragimov-Unification
    2006 Brock-top 10

    Klitschko faced 11 mandatory challengers.

Look at Joshua's resume compared to Wilders. He has fought Klitchko in half the fights Wilder has had..

I think Wilder would KO Whyte but seems a bit weird he would turn down 4.5 mil and ask for 7

If you don't like the Ring the ESPN is an alternative. Both are much better than any abc org top 10

Out of the current TBRB HW top 10 rankings..

Joshua has beat 2.. Klit & Whyte
Parker has beat 2... Takam & Ruiz Jr
    Wilder has beat 0...

Out of The Ring & ESPN HW top 10 rankings...

Joshua has beat 3... Klit, Whyte and Breazeale
    Parker had beat 1...Ruiz Jr
    Wilder has beat 0...

There's a theme there if you are clever enough to spot it...
