Without getting into quibbling over definitions and such, that's possible. But not necessarily so. A lot is known about the condition but there are even more unknowns. IMO, some people are genetically latent alcoholics from birth. As soon as they start, the outcome is inevitable. Others are potential alcoholics in that their brain wiring and chemistry makes them very susceptible to becoming what we commonly call alcoholic under the right conditions. Some in this category, however, either because of self-awareness or whatever other reason, limit their intake and can drink and function to a good degree throughout life. Some have no different wiring and chemistry than non-alcoholics, but just have an intemperate disposition or couldn't give a **** and become an alcoholic by acting as a 'true' alcoholic does. And some have 'normal' chemistry and physiology, are well balanced and will never become alcoholics. Not that I know Kelly's situation, but I feel he probably had problems with the stuff long before he ever fought Miranda. I don't think Bernard turned him into an alcoholic. He just got rich and famous, was in the limelight, and couldn't properly adjust to it. The $$$ and fame just exposed and exacerbated the pre-existing problem. It's good that he's decided to face the demon and deal with it.
****ing bollox ! ...encounter with someone with real problems aka parkys , ms etc then come back to me ... its an excuse...
The Hopkins loss wasn't what started it at all, his dad said it started after the win over Taylor. That's over a year earlier. I think Kelly can come back, he only has two losses and both by decision to very good fighters.
People who have a serious disease have no choice ...people who pour booze down there throat have a choice ...simple !
