Fights being stopped when guys are still throwing punches, guys hugging and dancing instead of fighting-it's no wonder most people look at boxing as a bunch of "pussies" and MMA just sign signed a multi-million dollar Prime Time National TV contract. Mayweather picks his opponents trainers? What the hell is that? Can you imagine if the Yankees picked the Red Sox coaches? What the hell is going on in this "sport"? I grew up as a boxer but am really down on the sport when I can see a better fight at a hockey game.:deal
MMA is certainly not killing boxing. Lee stoppage was a good call. Katisidis you can question but I dont think it was wrong. So stop bitching
I was going to tell you to Cobain your self, but there are actually some pretty decent throw-downs in the NHL.
A ref should not stop a fight while the boxer is still throwing punches. Ref stopped the fight tonight too soon. Same with the Lee fight. So many boxers would have lost their championships if they had had those referees.
Nah I'm not one of those! I do love me some hockey Flyers fan tough couple of years but we are excited as hell here!
Yes I have actually. DLH vs Mayweather made more revenue than 2007's UFC fights combined. Go look the figures up, MMA will never be bigger than boxing. And stop ****ing whining about stoppages.
Foolish guess on the Mayweather vs ODLH fight... It's actually pretty close... It's really just a matter of pricing. MMA averages $39.99, Boxing goes at $49.99 2007 CROSS INDUSTRY COMPARISONS [Buys (Estimated Gross Revenue)(# of events)] UFC - 4,885,000 ($194.5 million)(11) HBO Boxing - 4,795,000 ($239.75 million)( 8 ) WWE - 2,797,000* (13 events included, 2 outstanding)
More real world data, not here say or trash talk... 7 of the top 10 are UFC events. There is no "HBO 24/7" type media blitz for UFC and the only real TV exposure is the PPV previews and shows on Spike TV. Not a bad showing for the limited exposure. TOP N. Wrong! CBS alone is paying MMA more than SHO and HBO that does not include PPV which will now be advertised for free!
Thank you! I knew that was a truckload of bull****! These numbers are only going to grow now that they are on a major network and are the fastest growing sport in the USA. They are going to be on after CSI the 2nd most show in the USA and hell maybe the world!
Perhaps ref should have stopped the Pryor fight while Pryor was getting the crap beaten out of his, blood everywhere?
mma FANS NEED 2 GO AWAY BOXING IS KING ALWAYS HAS ALWAYS WILL BE....HEY MEMBER WHEN DISCO WAS KING FOR A FEW YEARS? OR HAIR METAL BANDS? MMA IS A FAD THAT WILL FADE...ONLY YOUNG WHITE MALE WATCH MMA
MMA cannot kill boxing in a 100 years buddy . . . MMA will run out of fighters before they can even come close.
