Floyd is simply baiting the public. First, he comes out with a statement that he wants to fight Pac. Second, when people hear about it, another report comes out saying he isn't even thinking of it. What happens after the conflicting reports is that fans now begin to demand the fight even more, encouraging more vague responses from team Mayweather, causing promoters to do bend over backwards to make the fight happen because of public outcry and desire to see the fight. Finally, after all the talk of wanting to fight and not wanting to fight, his purse goes up the more the controversy lingers because he can use two angles; one, that he would have to come out of retirement and, two, that he doesn't really want the fight that much, even though he does.

That was the ENTIRE reason Floyd "retired" in the first place.
