"Well i think he (Alexender) redeemed himself in a way by making a good fight, I don't know that the game of boxing redeemed itself by taking a second straight fight away from Matthyse." Say what you will about his drunk ass, but Larry ALWAYS tells it like it ****ing it is, unlike say 99% of commentators that just try to cover for the almighty network.
Doesn't matter, point is he said it. Just like he says it when a fight is boring as ****. All these other yes men sit there trying to talk up some garbage ass fight or cover for some corrupt ass judges and Larry's there to tell it like it is. Just like Jeff VanGundy should be on every basketball commentary team on television. All the other jackasses sit there and cover for the refs, Jeff calls bull**** when someone gets T'd up for looking at a ref the wrong way. He calls bull**** when someone DOESN'T get T'd up for getting in a ref's face. There need to be more Larry Merchants and Jeff VanGundys on tv.
love van gundy, looks like a nerd, talks like he's from the streets. merchant is a little more subtle in telling it as he sees, and more eloquent for sure, but he tells it no doubt. boxing is definately the better off with his like calling the sport
I love Larry. He might come off as the biggest ****ing curmudgeon you've ever met in your life at first, but he'll be the first to express the words no one else will say, and that takes proper balls. The man says what needs, AND DESERVES, to be said.
I love Larry Merchant, straight up....boxing's number one poet. Classy responses to the thread as well, which says just as much about you folks as it does about Larry.
