    joe frazier vs ?

    anyone know the mystery boxer?



    im looking at the whole picture. not bad quality so must be in the late 70's but then again it looks far newer than that maybe mid 80's if in knew joe didnt fight in that era.

    That is Floyd 'Jumbo' Cummings, the ex con turned boxer that Joe Frazier fought to a draw against in Smokin' Joe's comeback fight in 1981.

    This was Joe's last fight I'am pretty sure. There is no film of this fight.

    Its Cummings, Joe was lucky to get the draw apparently. Jumbo went on to fight Frank Bruno and rock him badly before losing, showing the way forward for Bonecrusher.

    In the seventies the German sports TV showed a short movie about Floyd Cummings. He started as an amateur and a fight against Theofilo Stevenson was considered. I do not know, whether this fight really happened.
