Those who simply say this are either pure haters or pure idiots. Jones in his prime took good freaking shots, even at heavy weight for cryin out loud! So Jones drops muscle to get back down to 175lbs and takes an unexpected left hook that would have knocked ANYONE out cold, but Jones still got up. Heck, even a prime Jones would have fell on his back like that with that powerful hook. People act like Tarver hit him with a pity jab and Jones got KO'd from it.
Prime Roy Jones had a good chin and he was never even rocked until his first fight with Tarver in the 10th round and that was coincidentally after coming down from heavyweight. Jones seemed different even from the very first round and appeared dehydrated as the fight went on. Some will mention the Del Valle fight but that was more of a slip and Jones didn't appear hurt at all. Furthermore, if Jones always had a glass chin, then one would have to conclude that he possibly had the greatest defense of all time based on him pretty much going over a decade without ever getting rocked or having his chin tested.
He's never been really rocked, but a couple of fighters like Griffin, Reggie and Hopkins gave him a couple of decent shots. Oh and Ruiz at one point.
Ah, yeah, I forgot about Ruiz. Ruiz landed a big shot on Jones in the first round that wobbled him but Jones fired back hard. I remember that. If anything, Jones proved to have a very strong chin as he took a shot like that in the first round from a natural heavyweight. If he got hit with that same shot today, he might die. Jones basically ****ed himself over big time with his decision to drop back to 175 so fast. Prime Jones is probably as close to invincible as we will ever see. Jones had the outside game, a crazy inside game (see Merqui Sosa fight, Pazienza fight, Telesco fight), could fight you in the middle of the ring, in the corner, whatever. Jones was the epitome of ring generalship.
Well you and the oher nuthuggers stop saying he was the greatest of all time or all the other bull**** about him being top 20 and above,he's a juicer so that makes him a fraud,he was already a HBO hypejob to begin with.:deal
If it is Rico I have to laugh at the irony of that pin-headed **** accusing anyone of abusing steroids :rofl:rofl:rofl Jones had a **** chin yeah.....which is why he accomplished all he did in a sport that requires you to get hit on the chin often.
I'm a big Roy Jones Jr. fan. Glass jaw might be too much. I'd say Roy had a plexiglass/acrylic jaw. Granite chinned Roy was not.
Humm.......thats all you can bring up? seems like your the 1 thats excited with nuts, try some ***** ******!:rofl
roy was able to hide his fragile swap meet china chin due to the fact he fought sanitation workers and part time cops for most of his overrated career.
