There is no such thing as "athleticism." Ability is sports specific. Does this kid have a chin? How is his stamina when in a sport where he can't take a breather and let a substitution play for a couple of minutes? Can he go past two rounds at 285? Can he throw combos, or is he a 1-2 guy? What would he do for defense? How would his footwork be?

If he doesn't box, we will never know. He may be the night Elonzo Highsmith, Mark Gastineau, etc.

It's one thing being athletic it's another having natural fighting talent which can't be taught such as heart, power and ring IQ.

I mean we could use the same hypothetical logic and apply it to bodybuilders 'Imagine if this guy started boxing at 5 years old he'd clean out the division without breaking a sweat''

My son is seven years old and is riped like a greek statue. He was filmed today doing skateboarding for few hundred bucks with a 4k camera for the Quebec National assembly. He started gymnastic last year and went with the best kids after two months. He does backflip on the parallel bar. 100 kids playing soccer, he is within the best two or three (a sport which he doesn't practice much). At the skatepark, I am being called by people my age as "....'s dad". He is built, strong, flexible but like you said, it is the way his brain manage to control all that that is superior to normal people. Athlete's brain are sharper.

Being good at basketball doesn't mean you would be good at boxing. Height and athleticism are ideal in both sports but more so basketball. Basketball is an easy game to like for all people tall and short. Boxing however, is a sport that you only actually find out if it's for you or not, after a hiding in the ring.

It's weird that 'the kid that would clean out the HW division with ease', isn't really a boxer. He can jump though! No not punch but jump. He could probably jump over the top rope and into the ring lol.

i have measured and documented obstacle courses for many different scenarios and many different soldiers. i have studied movement, not professionally, but in my own personal pursuit of understanding so i could breed better dogs. i started to get an understanding of what makes an athletic specimen stand out in many different groups. just like some people can learn a new language with ease, some can make their entire body work much more in unison. and when that type of communication between brain, neurons, synapses and muscles is blessed with a healthy framework of bone and muscle, then all you need is the mental fortitude to be a superstar. thats how rare they are.

I was doing backflips and Push-ups when I was inside my mother’s womb, If I had taken up boxing I would have knocked out Golovkin by now.
