I favor Moore to win. But Jones athleticism at 175 from 1997 - 2001 would make this hard as hell. Jones was no joke at light heavy even if he didn’t fight and beat Joey maxim 500 times

RJJ is always a hard one to mentally game because it's hard to predict how an opponent reacts to the speed. I can see either guy winning tbh.

It's a great matchup. Moore has to knock him out to win IMO. It boils down to whether the incredibly canny Moore could catch him good offensively. Jones was no glass jaw in his pomp but Moore was a pretty destructive hitter too. Can Moore lay enough traps and spring them successfully?

Tarver KO's him...so does Archie Moore. Can you see Jones taking the pounding that Archie received from Yvonne Durelle during their first fight up in Montreal in December 1958...then come back to win the fight...as Archie did?...Me neither...

The old mongoose sets a few traps and one of them will get the stoppage. Jones holds those hands too low against an opponent of this caliber. And has that great ability to capitalize.

Moore lays in waiting and punches with Jones IMO and it’s all over after that.

Doubtless, the old timers will call it decisively for Moore, & the kids will do the same for Jones.

The truth lay somewhere in between. I favour Moore on the basis that he’s just so much more proven against great competition - overwhelmingly so. That, & it’s a lot to ask of even someone like Jones to stay out of harm’s way the entire fight.

This is no sure thing though, as others have said. Jones may step up & ascend to greatness in doing so, he’s got the speed & athleticism - but it’s hard to confidently pick against Moore & I’ll cautiously back him to score a knockout.

    I favor 1940 to 1952 Archie but after 1952 I'm picking Roy.

Did Moore fight Marshall, I can't remember, that would give you the best insight, plus countless others ..

Marshall IS Jones, long before Jones... and better too.

There was a time I would have went with Roy because of styles, and he was too fast.

The KO losses later on made me think differently too. I question Roy's chin now. Archie could also punch a little himself. I think Roy outboxes him until he gets clipped on the chin.
