This may be a stupid question, but I've often wondered

If a boxer bounces on his toes for a few seconds after being hit pretty hard, is that usually a sign that he was hurt or really felt the punch?

I know there are other more obvious signs like smiling and widening of the eyes, but I've noticed with a few guys who don't normally get on the balls of their feet do so when they get hit - as if to steady themselves/their legs just for a few seconds.

Am I talking **** here? :huh

Its just a normal thing to do if they really got hurt they will usually make an exaggerated motion to prove that they werent hurt but bouncing on the toes is just something you do

No,, it could be a sign of frustration and the fighter is trying to find his rhythm

Got in at least 2 "accidental" headbutts

  6. Sometimes it's just a sign of a boxer trying to relax, cause he's tense or he's having a hard time breathing.

I usually see it as a reset type of movement.

naw, a lot of times it is, but sometimes a boxer may just be checking if his legs are still under him which in turn could mean he was hurt

:good Came back to say that, usually i see boxers do it after a good combination and they get out then bounce on their toes or if they got hit too much in the clinch they do it as kind of a reset

A lot of the time is to check if your legs if under you or not. a lot of the time when a fighter gets hit, they will not know if there leg is gone and when they step back they lose their footing.

I know i got hit one time and my foot was numb/asleep so i bounce to get my feet back.
