I don't see how Boxing is the money laundering operation that most on here think it is. I'd say it's more of an interest for him. By reading about him, he's worth an ungodly amount of millions. Hundreds of millions. No way in hell does he launder a fraction of it through Boxing. Property would be miles easier/better/quicker, surely? Even from reading the books that are about them you can see that Boxing wouldn't be the No.1 option to launder money/go straight.
Property is a no go area after the 2017 AML regs plus the NCA"s new powers to seize long built property empires of drug dealers mean no chance. That probably explains to those casting aspersions why most of his real estate empire is in brazil where its safe
True, but how about businesses or the stock market? I can't remember a fight where the man in question has earned a fortune from it... I see how laundering works, but the man would be spending the next 20-30 years laundering his money because he apparently has so much. I'm leaning towards it being more of a hobby/interest for him.
Id agree with you.Boxing is kinahans horse racing ....hes the sheikh mohammad or abramovich of boxing. It wont be a primary money laundering venture...but it will give him the fastest path to the fame and celebrity he is thirsty for
With businesses and even shares tbh after the 2017 regulations its not as easy.proffesionals like lawyers ,estate agents and accountants face being struck off and severe penalties...however there are plenty of bent people in those proffesions who are in it for that kind of cash
Sounds like the kind of guy that needs to be away from people and technology. Can't go a day without putting his foot in it...
In a sport riddled with unsavoury characters and people of questionable morals, Saunders really does stand head and shoulders above the rest. He's possibly the most unlikeable person in any sport today. He's nearly like a WWE baddy he's such a *****.
I agree with this but due to regs it’s likely one of a number of fronts. given mtk put on shows at hundreds of thousands of pounds with no fans and no tv deal most on here just can’t see a way the funding comes from a legitimate source. Take the dickens vs Galahad fight for example. How do they fund the £200k purses with no ticket sales and sticking it on YouTube. If it was profitable everyone would be doing it. On top f that’s there’s rumours they charge certain fighters no fees which makes zero sense
At the end of the day, money laundering is simply taking dirty money and making it clean. Dirty money is usually physical cash because surprise surprise, it can’t be chased. To be a good money launderer you need to be able to take cash and put it into the bank without raising suspicion - in the United Kingdom the most popular way of doing this is through owning business that are known for cash transactions - takeaways and car washes are good examples of these. Then you simply put through you’ve sold 1000 burgers rather than a 100 on your tax return and you’ve managed to get a good chunk in the bank. In terms of people saying boxing is just a money laundering operation, I struggle to see how that is possible without owning the venues as well as all of the gyms that MTK boxers train in (too many to name outside of the main gym.) The old style criminal money in boxing was fighting fights, but there’s not much evidence of MTK doing that from what i can see.
Boxing, like football, is a good way of a dodgy character seeming legitimate. Look at David Sullivan & the Gold brothers; when you think of them now, you don't think of porn barons, you think football club owners. It's not the money laundering so much as credibility. The Kray twins knew that sixty years ago.
