Still have a few people on here who are giving Sonnen's abilities too much credit. Now, he put on a good fight but, he wasn't fighting the best Silva. If there is rematch it will not be the same. He is not as good as he seemed that night. Silva was fighting with injured ribs. If you look at the end of round 1 you could see him already reaching at his right side. You guys should read this article:

It was really close because the doctors didn't want him to fight. He hurt his rib last Friday in sparring. He hurt it, but he didn't think it was hurt that bad and then Sunday morning, I had about 13 missed calls in a matter of 25 minutes. They were all from Anderson and he was calling me to tell me he was in pain. He couldn't breathe. I took him to the hospital and they X-Rayed each rib and they noticed that it was a bit swollen, but there was no fracture. They said it was bruised ribs, but the way he reacted when they touched it and how tender they were, they said it was in the muscle as well as the bruise. I'm not a doctor, but this is just what they told us. They prescribed some Ibuprofen 800 for him because it was so close to the fight, they couldn't do any Vicodin.
The doctors said, "I really don't recommend that he fights," but Anderson said, "No man, the show must go on. I'm going to fight." I put it this way, he was supposed to corner Mark Munoz on Sunday for his fight against Okami, but I made him stay at home in bed. He was just lying around and letting his ribs heal up on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday because we traveled. He didn't train again until we got to Oakland. He gave his ribs about a 5-day rest.

wahhhhhhh excuses galore from the Silva camp. I heard him say it in the post fight interview in the ring and I started to laugh haha I knew he'd use it. I like he he said "I'm not making excuses but just thought I'd put itout there" or some such ****. If its NOT an excuse why bring it up?

Silva looked pretty bad, not sure he is much of an excuse guy. If I were Silva and my ribs were injured, I'd probably keep my mouth shut and surprise the world in the rematch.

Also, to some degree Lindland is right about injuries in MMA. Everyone fights with them. I personally and had broken, bruised ribs, and it actually impairs your breathing and comfort big time, HUGE TIME. The thing is, there really isn't much you can do about ribs but rest.. If they were injured, it doesn't really explain why he looked bad standing, to me at least. Standing with bruised ribs would probably be far more comfortable than trying to fight Sonnen off your back with bruised ribs..

Coming from someone who really dislikes Sonnen, and kinda likes Silva, and I've been pretty damned vocal about my dislike for Fail Sonnen's crap talk about Crocop, Noguera's, and now Armstrong. Crossed the line for me.

Now, how about that sub? The leg maneuverability, posturing, spinal flexing, and all that **** required to set up a triangle are extremely hard on the ribs. If Silva's ribs were as injured as mine, he's one tough mother****er because I had a hard time breathing bending over to tie my shoes with bruised and broken ribs, and I was in incredible shape prior to the injury. Just testament to how badly Chael Failed, or how huge of an excuse Silva made. We will never know.

I'm sure its far more comfortable standing with injured ribs but, he couldn't sprawl and move as well as he needed to stay on his feet.

He does, but do you think Sonnen was 100% healthy after the way he works, with a bunch of other maniacs like Lindland?

Silva needs no defending, he won.

It was a very pretty sub.

Poetic victory at that considering the types of wins big Nog pulled off against the likes of Crocop back in the day and the way Sonnen trashed their name, or at least attempted to. Not enough attention going to how that sub granted the Noguera family JUSTICE!!

Noguera BJJ is no joke in MMA.

"I'm not making excuses BUT....." 95% of them say this after a loss.. (or a win....in this case)

whatever it was silva looked lethargic. i did notice at end of round one he pointed to the right side of his body. it doesnt really convince me...what i ask myself is why did he eat punches repeatedly while standing with his hands down and no head movement? is either hands up and no head movement or hands down and move out of the way. I have a hard time believing he was simply out struck on his feet by a wrestler yet he's handled any known decent striker with ease. he had no counters, no pay for mistakes, no snap his striking and looked sloppy in comparison to previous fights.

silva and sonnen need to rematch. even though I hate his style sonnen deserves respect for what he was able to do.

remember silva won, just like big nog won against cro-cop, bob sapp, and tim sylvia. a come from behind victory, people should be showing him respect instead of disscrediting him.

great come from behind victorys deserve respect Marciano got his against walcott I. ryo chonan got his. fedor against arlovski, chavez vs tylor.

I know many of you hate anderson silva but he is p4p best since the fedor loss. he showed his bjj skill and finished his opponent silva needs no excuses.

If it is really that bad, you cancel the fight, take the possible flak for ducking and fight another day 100% and prove what you could have proven a few months prior.

I know he might be tough and there might be adrenaline but if his ribs were that bad could he try so many subs with a geezer laying on him and him popping his hips none stop. Not only that but when he was standing he was trying to be all flashy.

I'm sure he did hurt his rib but I don't think it is as much of a showstopper as they have us believe.
