Now don't get me wrong, I like PacMan and all, but this is getting ridiculous. First of all, too much has been made of him beating past-their-best fighters in Barrera and Morales. I'm not saying they were shot, but they were clearly on their way down. Why do I think so? Because in their first fight, PacMan took on a unfocused Barrera and it took him 11 rounds to beat him. In their second fight, with Barrera being further removed from his best days, PacMan couldn't repeat his manner of victory even though a lot of people were saying he was a new and improved fighter. Against Morales, he got beat by a faded legend who managed to pull one last great effort from his body. To say Morales was not past-his-best is ludicrous because ALL the wars he had certainly caught up with him in his 1st, 2nd, and 3rd fight with PacMan. Against Marquez, he found 1 of the 3 Mexican greats who was still relatively fresh and the results were as clear as ever. He managed a draw in their first fight, and was given the "W" in their second, which many boxing fans and journalists claimed was given to the wrong man. To say that PacMan clearly won is absurd because as we all know, in boxing, "W's" can and are given to the wrong fighters on numerous occasions. Although he beat DLH, I'll withhold my opinion because I still have suspicions that there is a hidden agenda to all of that. Furthermore, to say he'll beat a Hatton or Mayweather at this point is downright irresponsible. Hatton is a physically strong fighter who not only is a brawler and naturally bigger, but he knows how to hold, and he is a better-than-average body puncher. Combine these assets and you have a fighter who on paper is something PacMan hasn't faced yet. This is someone who is going to force PacMan to fight going backwards and I predict would result in PacMan losing for the first time since the 1st Morales fight. Mayweather would be a bigger, faster, and fresher version of Marquez. He is also considered by many to be the best defensive fighter today. PacMan hasn't improved to the point that his camp wants you to believe because if he had, he would have taken out the smaller, older Marquez. In that fight he showed he is still the one-two fighter we have all seen before. Mayweather would go on to stop PacMan due to an accumulation of punches. PacMan has heart, pride, determination, and courage, but his fans and camp are not doing him a favor by giving him more credit than he deserves.
on the contrary, most people are still underrating him. Saying he would get easily ktfo by Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo
You are way off base. When he beat Barrera the 1st time Barrera was not past it and still in his Prime. Morales had just beaten Pac and never been knocked down. Pacman stops him and all of a sudden Erik is shot. He knocks JMM down 3 times and i think wins the 1st fight in JMM's Prime. You are a hater Pacman is changing our sport taking on fights we could only ever dream about like Pacman vs Dela Hoya Where 98% of the boxing world was picking ODH. And you say its getting out of hand. **** OFF.
I think the threads discrediting Pac's victories have always gotten out of hand and this has been going on since the 2003 win over Barrera.
I understand your point to some extent, but at least based on the last couple of years who has beaten better competition than him? Pac Man continues getting better as he moves up in weight. He is a beast. Everyone said he was going to get KTFO against DLH and it was the other way around, he keeps proving people wrong. I honestly believe he has fought as many or maybe MORE quality guys than PBF. Floyd may have the greatest skills in boxing , but to say that he will easily embarrass Pac in a ring, like has been suggested in other posts and forums, is totally ridiculous. If anything I believe Pac is underrated.
not as bad as the million threads saying how ODLH was going to kill pac...murder pac...pac has NO chance...People fearing for pacs ;life...now pac absolutely assrapes ODLH and he is STILL not good enough for you eh?
Marquez would have lost the first fight if one of the judges scored the first round correctly with a 10/6 instead of a 10/7. Marquez lost the rematch too IMO. Morales won the first fight, lost to Raheem and in the rematch had never taken a beaten like that before. He was not shot. Neither was Barrera. Not nearly in bad of shape as Jones after coming down in weight. You can't use shot when talking Barrera and Morales when fighting Pac because there was no signs of it in previous fights. DLH was the most far gone outta all of them only due to weight loss. The man hadn't weighed in that light in 12 years so DLH was only half as good of what we all expected. Voted somewhat correct and believe both PBF and Hatton beat him.
PBF may beat pac soundly..which I think will happen...BUT PAC is a BEAST...all great fighters lose because they move up to far in weight and meet someone with better skills...PAC is the man but PBF is stylistically too much for pac...that being said I will never sleep on pac again and PBF and pacman is a SUPER MEGA fight
Im just saying Pacman has beaten 4 Future HOF's and you are trying to tell us that his fans dont deserve to give him credit. Mate you really have no clue do you. Do you know Pacman has a better record against HOF's than Hagler Hearns Ray Leonard Pernell Whitaker and many other top ATG's. But hey what would 98% of boxing fans know by picking Oscar to destroy Pacman. The thing im trying to say to you Pacman is doing things no one thought possible. Like fighters taking on other huge fighters aginst massive odds. Yet you think its getting out of hand. I thank god someone like Pacman came along. Great to watch not affraid to fight anyone anywhere. A real P4P king yet your not giving him any credit. Shame on Fans like you i say. SHAME..................
Well to be honest, he hasn't tested himself against others except for the recycled bunch of Morales, Barrera, and Marquez with the most recent being DLH. It is rare for fighters to meet at their respective primes, but I was just pointing out that PacMan, in MY opinion, beat Barrera and Morales when they were past-their-physical primes. Not saying they were shot, but you can't say they were in tip-top form after their brutal wars they had prePac. In Marquez, he fought a fighter who was still well-preserved and who had not been in wars that took a toll on his body. I am also pointing out that in MY opinion, he beat Pac twice. I am also pointing out that just because the judges scored the second fight in Pac's favor doesn't mean that is the correct decision. Anyhow, the reason I started this thread was to voice my opinion on Pac. I also started it because it was disturbing to read threads where people were pitting Pac against Cotto and having him win via UD. Although you should never say never in boxing, I find it ridiculous that people are underrating Cotto and overrating Pac. In MY opinion, Pac loses by KO to Cotto, Hatton, Mayweather, and Margarito and I would put big money where my mouth is in those fights. It's not that Pac isn't a great little fighter, it's just that people are getting a little carried away with all the hoopla.
Who has Pac beaten from the HOF? Potential HOFers perhaps, but none are already there. And Marquez in particular isn't guaranteed a spot. And there are different levels of fighters in the HOF. If Marquez gets in, what is more prolific, a win against Marvin Hagler or a win against Marqez? A win against a peak Ray Leonard or a win against an over-the-hill Oscar De La Hoya? Pac hysteria is getting out of hand by some, but others do continue to underrate him.
Truth be told, i thought Oscar was going to win via UD. Either way, The Pacman is definitely one of the best fighters of this generation! Gentleman outside of the ring, a beast in it.
So you are saying that Morales did not take a beating in his three wars with Barrera? Their 1st fight was a career shortening fight, and the last two did him no favors. Not to mention the other wars with In Jin Chi, Guty Espadas, Jesus Chavez, and Carlos Hernandez. So I beg to differ in that subject because there were obviously signs, however, none of the other fighters were able to capitalize it the way Pac did. None were recognized as having the "power" of Pac, plus those other fighters had approximately the same ring mileage as Morales. Ditto for Barrera. And just for the record, I never said they were shot. I did say they were past-their-physical primes which is subject to interpretation. Anyhow, thanks for your input.
