This Recent Margarito Backlash Is Absolutely Ridiculous

In this economy these fighters that keep turning down these paydays are idiots.

What did Margarito make for Cotto? Wasn't it like 1.6 mil or so?

The guy is delusional.

 

if thats the case then why is he gonna fight his next fight for less than 2 mil?

 

His recent actions where fighting Clottey, Williams, Cintron and Cotto back to back, and if that says he is full of **** your ****ing crazy. Those were all the top welter weights right there, the man deserves a payday here in four fights he has earned it, he has also picked up two Major Titles along the way.

The backlash has to do with the fact that he and his supports claimed that he only fought for "pride" and "honor" and viciously attacked other fighters who were in the position he is now (having a bit of leverage after establishing himself as a legit commodity and using it to guarantee the biggest possible payday in the future) for years with their incessant bull****. It sucks, but that's the way the sport is structured.

This isn't strictly about Margo turning down Mosely or Williams or anyone else. I don't honestly think he's afraid of those guys. It's the statements that he's made in the past, and the fact that he insulted Mosely before turning down the fight.

He turned down a matchup he would be heavily heavily favored to win with Shane Mosely. Shane is crazy to keep it up, so I'm actually glad he did this, and beating an old shot Mosely to a pulp wouldn't do much to enhance his resume or ranking. I don't blame his choice.

Maybe he will reinvestigate a Clottey matchup.

I sincerely hope though that he isn't doing this in some far-fetched attempt at De la Hoya.

 

Good Lord, man, calm down. All I did was make a simple post without insulting anyone (including Margo who is a fighter I like) and you come back with a bunch of insults and profanity. It's not that serious, brother, don't be so sensitive.

And what's with the "size" stuff. I didn't mention anything about size or age excuses or anything else in my post. My post was explaining to the OP why I thought there was Margo backlash. You didn't address anything I wrote. And I never said Margo owed Shane anything. Margo called out Shane, remember?

Just wait until it gets worse and the clown won't be making near 2 mil or 4 mil a fight. Like I said he was only paid a little over a mil for Cotto.

Margarito and his nuthuggers need to accept the fact that he needs to fight Paul Williams and avenge that loss.

 

I've always believed that Margarito has never got his dues anyway. Cotto was getting an air of indestructabilty about him right up to Margarito beat him, then it was "Ah Cotto is just a quitter", ****in assholes. The guy has worked hard to get where he is now, he deserves no stick for knocking back an old shot fighter.

I'd rather see him out there fighting unification bouts with Berto, Clottey or Williams.

Surreal, I for one, have not been criticizing Margo too hard for this. I think he's a heck of a fighter and I love to watch him fight. I wasn't pulling for him against Cintron or Cotto, but that's just the Puerto Rican thing. I'm sure he has his reasons for not taking the Mosely fight, and I try not to judge fighters too harshly for what they do with their careers. After all, they are the ones climbing into the ring and laying it on the line.
