Dude was an absolute animal back in the late 2000s when he was fighting in the lower weights.

Hes coming down in weight and hes 35 which is old as dirt for bantamweight. Abd hes still got too much in the tank for these guys.

I honestly think a prime Donaire would rip Estrada, Gonzalez and Rungvisaisi in half.

    Dudes a boss.

    Let's not overreact.

Donaire looked good considering his age and the fact that he had to drop some weight BUT he wasn't dominating the fight, he didn't HURT (i mean HURT!) Burnett at all who had to retire due to being injured (hip/back).

The fight was relatively close for four rounds, i think it was even after 4.

Donaire is good and was very good but "ripping Estrada, Gonalez and Rungvisai in half" is a bit too much.

Hes 5'6" and a very skilled boxer puncher with crunching power. Gonzalez and Rungvisai will get blown up when they come on the attack. And Estrada just doesnt have the size or strength for Donaire.

Now Inoue is a closer fight. More like 60/40 for Donaire. This kid Inoue can really crack and hes patient as well.

I actually think Prime Donaire would have had Inoue critics screaming exposed. Not to take away from Inoue but Donaire would have handled him.

Maybe. I think it would be a close fight.

I’d favour inoue against even a prime Donaire. Let’s not forget how Donaire got schooled bad by Rigo although that’s nothing to be ashamed of. Rigo was legit p4p top 3 h2h at that point.

I think Donaire’s biggest problem is he’s lost his reflexes, he’s less accurate, less sharp with the counters and you can see it takes him an extra second to pull the trigger.

I never understood how chocolatito was p4p1. Who did he beat? Some champs, not a single HOF’r in his record nor would you pick him to beat one h2h. If the guy was such p4p material he would have gone up in weight and beat the bigger names. Fight Rigo at 122, it’s 6lbs, That’s what’s expected of p4p.

Dude eventually everybody has to stop moving up. Gonzalez was a 105 champ. Rigo is far too big and strong for him.

Also Donaire is a far better Flyweight and Superflyweight than SBW where he fought Rigo. If Donaire had been the same size as Rigo he would have tossed him around the ring. Yes I realize Donaire is tall, but has the muscle development and frame of a 14 year old.

No matter how you feel about his boxing abilities, no one can doubt his class and professionalism.
Dude behaved like a gentleman towards Burnett both before and after the bout. Trash talking
morons like McGregor, Fury, etc. could learn a lot from Donaire.

Being a crude loudmouth is what appeals to fight fans/casuals. Think of Mayweather and McGregor etc.

Unless you are an absolute wrecking machine, being nice does not sell fights.

You do realize Roman had an entire career, winning titles from 105-115, before the SRR fights, right?

What other minimumweight fighter ever did that? The criminally underrated Kazuto Ioka may match that, but I can't think of any other one thats come close.

Pac was the 112 champ. Sure he's not Pac but he holds p4p 1.

Lets review who else held p4p 1 and that is the bar thats set for them. Floyd, Pac, SRL, RJJ, Whitaker, JCC, ODLH, Mosley, BHop.

Pretty much all of them transcended weight, Pac 8 weight divisions, floyd 6, Oscar 6, Mosley (4?), Whitaker (3?), SRL (6?). Bhop and JCC not so much but they made up for it by beating fellow HOF'ers or ATGs.

Chocalatito beat C grade fighters at a low-level talent pool weight classes and never moved up high enough to challenge real top fighters. You got to have 1 or the other to be considered p4p 1. I almost feel like he was a token p4p 1, for Ring magazine to demonstrate their boxing expertise by recognising a champ not many people would otherwise recognise.

P4P 1's dont lose to Rungvisai at the height of their career.

Pac went up from 105 to 154. The bar was set.

He doesnt need to match that, but if he's gonna hold p4p 1, he shoudl at the very least be able to go up to 122 and beat the only legit opponent who was in the p4p top 10. How can you be p4p 1 without ever beating a p4p opponent?

Leo Gamez is the ONLY other man to have won World titles over those 4 weight classes (Naoko Fujioka I believe is the only fighter to have won World titles from 105-118 to become a 5 weight champion).

Ioka vs Nietes winner will be the third
