Where is it? (And i'm aware that many, if not all, of those below are not PPV, but they are the 'bigger' fights in the US). Garica v Thurman - $2 million each Wilder v Ortiz - $2 million for Wilder Spence v Peterson - $1.2 million for Spence Lomachenko v Rigondeaux - $1.2 million for Lomachenko So where on earth is Team Wilder going to generate $100 million that they want in order to make 60/40 happen?
Um, who is talking about 100 mil? PPV money is for the PPV stars. And its usually takes time to build them up.
Perhaps it's time to go back to school and take a business course. 0 concept of money with some of these posts
Wilder is NOT a PPV draw. He hasn't been on a single PPV card in his 8 HW title fights. Deontay is the least marketable US American HW titlist with > 5 title defenses of the last 40 years.
I was just about to post a thread of my own where i was looking to get to a very similar point. Im really struggling to get my head around how this fight gets to 100 million, this figure has been quoted from both sides but its always been next a word like hope or could or maybe. There are 3 or 4 points that im throwing around in my head and it just doesnt look good for being huge in America. 1. I think anybody paying for Joshua fights in the UK are already doing it whether it is Parker, Klitchko, Janet who works part time in the local Library or Deontay Wilder . Wilder adds nothing to the UK market. So in essence the UK market is already maxed out, so we know how much it brings in and we know it is Anthony Joshua bringing it in. 2. Anthony Joshua is about as popular in America as Deontay Wilder is which is not very popular. 3. Wilder does average to weak numbers on fights that are in a prime Boxing slot and are not PPV. So how will he do when people have to pay PPV money to watch him and are also expected to do that at a time of day dominated by other major American sports which are much more popular than Boxing and against Joshua who seems to be no more popular than Wilder. 4. But this is not just an ordinary fight. This is a fight to become undisputed champion of the golden division by 2 unbeaten fighters who between them have 60 fights and only 2 have gone the distance. taking my 1st 3 points into consideration this fight still has to be pretty big surely. But how much bigger, again taking my 1st 3 points into consideration i just struggle to see how it can grow to 100 million. 5. Because of all the uncertainty of just how big financially this fight will be because of the unknown interest level of America, or the rest of the world, Deontay Wilder should not be being offered flat fees, he needs to be offered percentages so that his potential earnings do actually reflect the magnitude of the fight when all the chips are in.
i think the post its trying to say where does team wilder think they are going to generate $100 mill dollars from. i haven't seen the interview but seen other posters post about wilder and his team think it will generate $100 mill. The answer is simple, the $100 mill doesn't exist. its made up. its bull
It's the American promoters/fans with no 'business concept'..... Fighters in the US are making less money than in Europe. The purses of Groves v Eubank/Usyk v Gassiev > Wilder v Ortiz....A world heavyweight title bout! Even Joseph Parker in New Zealand was making equivalent amounts to Deontay Wilder.
No kidding, boxing is a niche sport in the States, unlike the UK. Only the true top fighters get to make a boatload of money. That being said, Joshua needs Wilder to make a superfight, it's not a 1 way street. If Wilder doesn't get the big bucks, there will be no fight. Thus, Joshua will not make the big bucks either.
Can't think of a single one that did that many I asked a similar question in another thread and nobody gave an example of anyone doing such numbers on a PPV debut. De La Hoya did 330K on his PPV debut vs Ruelas, even the King of PPV Mayweather only did 365K on his PPV debut vs Gatti. It took both of them until their 4th PPV event to break the 500K barrier.
Those numbers are very small compared to the size of the country. It’s like Joshua doing 60,000 PPV’s in the UK.
This content is protected Do you know what I did when I had math homework? I ignored it and watched Boxing instead.
Yep he gonna miss out getting stupid European money just like Wlad did instead of the US gold mine all the other boxers get.....
