Beat pretty much everyone in the division but MONEY. I think the conditioning he brought, his improved defense, stamina, and mental toughness would giving the victory over everybody not named Mayweather. Yes that includes Manny Paquiao IF he is willing to submit to weekly testing. Sorry, I do believe that Paquiao is on something.

I'll say one thing, Cotto is not a shot fighter! Although as frustrated as he has last night (wouldn't even grant HBO a interview in the dressing room, left the ring as soon as the scores were read) I could possibly see Miguel not having his heart in the sport any longer...

pacman and cotto at 154 even if manny can't make that weight would be fight of the year imo. a straight up brutal war. WIth his trainer pedro diaz and no catchweight and cottos regained strength from after the margarito fight

you are kidding right? "not having his heart in the sport any longer" after he left is ALL IN THE RING??? My friend is called DISAPPOINTMENT. Cotto is class act all the way, he just thought he was really going to win last night. It was a hard loss.

  5. Pac would weigh 148 and Cotto would weigh what? 165? Since Pac is smaller than some lightweights, most junior welterweights, and all welterweights, shouldn't we be clamoring for Marquez, Alexander, Khan, Maidana, Bradley, and Peterson to fight at 154?

    :think

I think Alvarez, Trout and Williams would be intresting bouts.

you're throwing your hand in the ring based on one inspiring performance and you're trying to wipe his slate clean because of it.

people love cotto because there's no bull**** in him - and there isnt.

but remember that this fight was at 154 because cotto needed an ace in the hole. dont be naaive enough to sell him on one fight.

He'll be back but he'll need to take a LONG break before doing so. He had a grueling camp and just had a war with the p4p#1 fighter in the world.

I agree that these would all be great fights but I don't see him fighting Trout or Williams until they significantly raise their profile with a couple good wins. Trout is taking a step in that direction with Delvin Rodriguez. Williams MUST REMATCH LARA or MARTINEZ to earn a shot IMO.

Pac would beat him again. I don't see how this Cotto is going to do any better than the one that beat Pac when the one that beat Pac didn't lose because he faded.

He lost because he got his ass whupped.

He was still throwing hard. The "drained" argument is thrown out the window.

    Why does everyone disrespect Pac?

Cotto's defense was shockingly good last night.

IMO, it even seemed to surprise Floyd at how well Cotto was getting back into defensive positions and blocking a LOT of Floyd's shots.

because there is black cloud over paquiao's performances....sorry but i believe that paquiao is on something. i have been watching boxing long enough to based my opinion. That has nothing to do with his skills which he has and he has improved tremendously over the years BUT i do think that whatever he is using gives him an edge.

it wasnt a shock to me. people were shocked by that because they are used to seeing floyd fight people out of their league who dont have the skill to get out of the way of most of floyds punches. i knew that once floyd actually fought someone with the goods, it would go much like it did.

Pac shreds Cotto at any weight. Miguel's weaknesses are always going to hinder him more against a dynamic, offensive machine like Pacquiao. It's the same reason Pacquiao would have always beaten Hatton easier than Floyd and why Floyd would always beat Marquez easier than Pacquiao. Pressuring Mayweather is the right thing to do. Pressuring Pacquiao is just walking into his range, which makes things so much easier for him. The best way to deal with Pacquiao is make him work to find his range and catch him as he's coming in. The absolute best pressure fighters ever - such as Chavez Sr - could get it done, but they're a rare group and even they'd need great chins because Manny's going to have his moments. It's just a much more dangerous game to play with Pac than with Floyd, just as looking to sit back and counter against Mayweather is foolish but the best way to go about fighting Pacquiao.

Also, Pacquiao's agreed to take the test for quite some time now. The issue has been the split of money for a while, and Floyd decided to back out of that question last night.
