Calzaghe fans. Although I feel Hopkins beat Calzaghe in their fight and believe he'll beat him a little more convincingly if they fight again, I'd have to say Calzaghe is the most athletic white fighter in history that I've seen. If you notice most athletic fighters are usually black because they have more rhythem the white people. What impresses me about Calzaghe is his speed and rhythem because without that, his workrate wouldn't be as deadly. So his speed makes his workrate hard for him to beat. Jones ain't gonna beat him because he's a very techinically flawed fighter and without his speed and reflexes, he's easy pickings for Calzaghe. I see this fight looking like Ali-Holmes, with Roy just covering up from the flood of punches Calzaghe throws. Hopkins on the other hand is so multidimnesional that he can make any fighter look bad and cause of that he can take away a fighters best strength, no matter who they are. But on to Calzaghe, I'd say he's the exception for a white fighter and that's mostly because of his speed and rhythem, which was developed from his father who was a jazz player.(And blacks always had more rhythem because of Jazz and the Blues)
I Just tell it how it is, if your laughing about the roy Jones prediction, fact is Roy is nothing without his speed and it's a bull**** fight cause Calzaghe is gonna murder him.
Hopkins did not throw enough punches to win the fight. He also clinched, grabbed, and held as much as John Ruiz. Calzaghe won the fight fair and square.
He also landed the clean more effective punches thru out the fight and scored a 2 point round with the knockdown. He was also the champion, so in close fights, the champion usually gets the nod. He didn't dominate him but he definetly got the job done.
If Roy is nothing without his speed then Calslappy is nothing without his either:blood Fighters have area's that make them special. Some rely on power, some speed, some both. If they didn't have them they wouldn't be who they are. What is the point here?
Yes he did, for the first 4 rounds, after that giving a round to Hop is bordering on being a stalker.
Try the first 7, and big right hand landed on calzaghe in 7th at the end of the of the round, gave Hopkins that round too, calzaghe didn't land any clean scoring blows.(Calzaghe won probably 1 round out of the first 7) The 10th round sealed the deal for the ex man.
where was he champion at?? he only had the ibo title and vacated it. so going into the fight there was no title. just wins over tarver and wright.he might have been classified as champ for his win over tarver but he defended no title
He was the lineal champ dumbass. The ring magazine belt which you earn by beating the lineal champ. Tarver was the champ and he beat Tarver to become the lightheavyweight champ.
Well if you mean by fundamentals boxing like he's from the projects slapping away then fine, Joe has that. But as far as fundamentals sitting on punches and putting weight behind them Roy has that. You've NEVER seen Joe Calzahge produce the type of KO'S Roy has with his power. Joe can slap and flurry away all he wants. I prefer Roy to be against the ropes when this happens, Joe is gonna get caught with countering hooks and uppercuts and his game plan to fire away is gonna get flushed back to Wales:hey
