On Wednesday Night Fights.... just got a stoppage win against a 5'9", 215 lb heavyweight. Vasquez is 6'7", and something like 260-280. He's got a James Toney-esque stomach on him. Never scores any knockdowns, barely seems to phase his much smaller opponent, though he lands many big shots. Ref eventually stops the fight. Big props to his opponent for having balls the size of uh... something very large. But I am so tired of seeing this FAT, LAZY heavyweights on ESPN that think they can get by on their size alone. And of course after the fight Vasquez ("Da Latin Hammer") walks around the right strutting and shouting, and then picks up like a 30 lb sledge hammer and swings it around. This **** makes ME want to get in the ring with him and just sit there throwing kicks to the outside of his knees all day.
They picked this Rodney Wallace guy as his opponent for a reason, even though he was 4-0 with 4 kos. His last bout in No 2007 was a no contest with journeyman Maurice Harris 20-14 (10kos) and Wallace was ko'd in the 4th rd. However apparently Harris misrepresented himself to get the fight and it was declared a no contest. If vasquez can't KO him with that huge weight advantage then he will not be much.
Pretty much says it all. I will say this though. I don't know what Harris did to him, but against this guy, he showed a heck of a chin. Either that or this big guy hits like Zuri Lawrence:hey
