The problem you fail to realise is that Lewis fought much better fighters. Sure, he got tagged every now and then but the fact is, he was fighter faster, technically more impressive fighters than Wlad has. People talk about guys like Tua negatively and class him as one-dimensional but he was a much better technician, and I use that losely, than guys who have freely tagged Wlad, such as Brewster or Peter. I know you'll now say "But Wlad has improved since then" and that's true, but all the improvement in the world doesn't mean anything, unless you can actually prove it against tested opponents. There's no point in saying "Wlad doesn't get hit with those shots" like it proves anything because the only thing any fair minded person can say, is that the guys hitting Lewis were better fighters.

Even people who are never mentioned any more, such as Mavrovic or Morrison, weren't that bad. You'd certainly consider them top 5 right now and they'd both be very significant wins on Wlad's resume.

I just think that's the problem you've repeated a few times. You're looking at Lewis and Wlad's fights, like they are against the same opposition and whoever looks more dominant must be the better fighter. I don't think that's true. If anything, the greatest achievements in boxing have been in tough, gruelling fights, not ones which are one sided.

Generally in the history of boxing, if you look at fights where one guy barely gets hit, you're looking at overmatched and usually poor opponents. I think that's the case with Wlad, rather than any technical perfection.

The Michael Grant Lewis fought would be quite highly ranked currently. He was before Lewis fought him too.

I like how Widdow said "KD against Golota before his brain exploded" as though that made Grant shithouse.

He was still there, still fighting, and still giving Golota a hard time.

I watched that fight again a couple of nights ago after somebody put it in a post. Grant went out very hard against Lewis, and hit him with some pretty good shots to be honest.

Lewis blew him away though. I like one of the commentators at the end "Michael Grant tried attacking Lewis and taking the fight to him, and it turned around on him very, very badly"

It was a good fight actually, despite being short. Grant showed quite a bit of courage, and to give him credit, at least had a plan that gave him a chance of winning. He rolled the dice and lost, sometimes that how it goes.

I've never seen Wlad fight like that ever. Lewis was a dirty, mean ******* in close. He didn't just clinch. He got his right hand free and punched, hard. I just feel that's the difference between Wlad and Lewis.

Wlad is an excellent boxer, great power, good technique and size. Everything you could want really. But he's not mean, he just doesn't seem to be a natural fighter. Unlike his brother.

I don't think a Wlad - Lewis match turns into a pure boxing match, unless Lewis is winning it easy.

Steward's plan with Lewis was simple. Box for a few rounds, and if it wasn't working "hit the mother****er. Turn it into a brawl, stop ****ing around" seemed pretty much his plan B with Lewis....

Wlad is a better technical boxer than Lewis. Wlad has better timing. Wlad is more athletic and moves better on his feet. wlad has a better jab.

Lewis is more of a rough fighter and better inside.

each guy has knockout power. lewis tended to be way more lazy.

I see this as a pick em fight 50/50

Grant was a very good fighter, I think he just didn't have the heart for boxing,
and had some bad luck, but he did show heart in the Golota fight...
