My god, what a below par year for the sport. I can't remember a time where I've been less excited about the Fall schedule. Even the fights that were supposed to redeem the lackluster first half are being postponed, falling through, or in danger of it.

Sorry, I don't have anything constructive. I'm just down about boxing right now. It'll pass.

Nothing can take my love for boxing from me but add in a bunch of life distractions and it's that much harder to keep up with the bull**** that has gone on this year. People weren't being dramatic. It happened. It wasn't just talk. A shitload of people walked away in part or in full because of the Mayweather/Pacquiao debacle.

Just wait another 10 years or so boxing will be about as popular as the professional bowling tour. All of the talent will have left for MMA by then.

Don't want to sound like the voice of doom, but boxing has really become marginalized in the last decade and I only see it getting worse. I'll be there to watch it till the end, though.

Tell me about it there is no fights I'm really excited about this year. Im actually going to the Mosley vs. Mora fight at Staples Center and I'm not that excited, I just hope we get some good meaningul fights on the way.

2009 and '10 have both sucked long stick that goes boom....... "Obamatricks" is not really working like the nation had hoped....... The USA since 2008 is the worst off its been since the '29 crash....... A good majority of decent folks here in the USA are either struggling hard or broke and seeking protection in order to keep a roof over there head....... 'Nuff said......

Boxing is in my blood but this year has been horrible. Im praying Martinez-Williams II gets made to save the year from all the dissapointment.

I saw "The 41 Year Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall And Felt Superbad About It" and they mentioned Floyd Mayweather so i do see a light in the tunnel.

It hasn't been an amazing year but like any other year there's quality boxing on almost a weekly basis if you're willing to sniff it out.

    Who gives a rat's ass if the #1 and #2 on a bunch of people's silly made-up pound-for-pound lists don't face off?

So what if there are some injuries and postponements?

If you just take it all in, week to week, and stop sweating the "big picture" you'll find there's nothing to gripe about. If the best action you see in a given month is on an ESPN2 undercard, or a crappy twenty dollar PPV, or on a Spanish-language channel - hey, at least you saw some good action. So what if it wasn't marquee names?

The dude abides. So does boxing.

Mayweather/Pacquiao was and continues to be terribly disappointing. That alone is dispositive for numerous casual fans and general sports types who normally don't give boxing a second look. However, what's compounding it is that the level of fighters below them in appeal are failing to deliver in the interim. As a hardcore fan, I know the sport is bigger than two fighters, but there's been a failure this year on pretty much every level.

I'm looking forward to seeing the end of the year awards. Pathetic.

I knew the boxing scene was gonna bite the rod back at the first of the year when I gandered at the slated fight list for 2010..... '10 is not the best for anything......

This guy by far is the one true fan of boxing I've seen on this thing they call the internet. IB could marry my daughter if I have one.

Exactly, there are fights every weekend with some importance.

Its certainly a bad run of big fights not happening, but the fights are out there and if they happen next year we will go from the 'worst' to 'best' year ever.

To be honest I think that a lot of people who come on here only care about the big two and maybe a few more big names.

Just off the top of my head:

    Maidana-Cayo
    Leapai-Walker
    Wlodarczyk-Fragomeni II
    Lopez-Concepcion (while it lasted)
    Perez-Mares
    Pascal-Dawson
    Munroe-Terrazas
    Kessler-Froch
    Marquez-Diaz II
    Andrade-Lucas
    Murray-Buckland
    Martinez-Pavlik
    Escalante-Roman
    Concepcion-Hammond
    Karmazin-Miranda
    Burgos-Martinez
    Bolling-Oganov
    Cotto-Foreman
    Angulo-Julio
    Soto-Diaz
    Solis-Santiago

Anyone who hasn't seen a bunch of good fights in 2010 has only themselves to blame.

The sport put all its eggs that Pacquiao/Mayweather was going to happen this year. As a result we got practically nothing to show for this year.
