(Thomas Hauser) HBO and boxing at a Crossroads

HBO needs to can bob papa as an announcer for HBO B.A.D. that guy is horrible....

 

I agree - he does far too much "Monday morning quarterbacking", but Tarver/Dawson is fair game. It was an undesirable fight to begin with and insane to pay way more for than Showtime did for the original.

Dawson/Johnson IS an HBO-worthy fight (IMO), but it does again sound like they are paying above market value for it. Maybe it's part of some contract they had with Dawson (still, that's their fault), but it sounds like very bad numbers vs. its competitors.

This is what's wrong with Hauser's articles, though - he has VERY valid points, but muddies them by putting his biases on display.

 

Out of curiosity, like what? :huh He has no reason to pledge allegiance to HBO nor knock them, that I can think of. Being critical doesn't mean you have a bias.

 

HBO does pay way too much for some of it's fights that are jokes!
