Yes and no. I'm back in the gym, mostly for the personal training sessions, but part of it includes boxing with 12-ounce gloves and mit work.

Anyway, I noticed my power wasn't quite what it was ( 5-10 years ago ) until the trainer corrected my footwork/ stance a bit, and reminded me how much snap and power comes from the waist and legs.

Then my power returned back to where I remember it being and even improved a bit after the first 50 or so punches thrown because I've increased lean muscle and muscle stamina overall.

Point being, if your technique or stamina erodes due to age or inactivity, so does your power!

 

I don't see a cheap shot, I see a thug who saw an older,smaller man, walked up on that man talking smack, and got put to sleep for his efforts..... Goes back to that old saying, never, never, underestimate your opponent.

Age dont mean much really if genetics are there. My dad at 65 had 5 construction workers hiding on top of his roof bc he had a problem with one these guys were in their 40's, i showed up and had to calm him down..He recently bought UFC gloves at age 70 so he wouldnt break a hand to go fight someone last year bc he didnt like what the guy said in his dance classes. last time he broke his hand in our house while a guy was trying to escape out the window back in the 90's on the guys head..He actually tried entering a toughman contest around 58. lol

Yes beware of those old boxers ,honestly he was an amatuer boxer and hes ALMOST as fast as me at 74 now! TRUTH!
