Better to be tried by 12 in a court of law than carried by 6 at your funeral.

Exactly. One of my lines from day dot is "Best form of defence is attack" Thankfully we live in a nice quite area nowadays. Don't want or need trouble at my age.

this thread to me is ridiculous. Violence of a fighter remains. No. I have found fighters more gentle than most. I don't see it as violent at all. Boxing is an art if you learn it properly. Tyson might be a little violent, but he would be violent no matter what yet he has a good heart. But when he explodes, Mike can explode.. He is volatile. Yet then you see Marvin Hagler who is so gentle and kind. Your thread is just not accurate.

I read it more as an ex fighter can still protect himself and protect himself well if the need should arise.

In that way it would make sense I suppose. I saw it as a fighter has a violent aspect to him which stays always. Their personalities are all different.

Ir's a bit mislabeled imo yes. Not like they are all going out flogging people on the street for little to no reason.

Yes I agree. And I do see the point he was making and they are tough always. Boxers to me are some of the more humble. Most. Guys like Margarito not really, but I met Genaro Hernandez and other guys and they were always the best guys. At the Hall of fame. One of the nicest guys I met was Julian Jackson and he is known for being probably one of the best one punch knockout guys ever. And I recognized him when for some reason no one else did at the Hall of Fame reception. I think many people there are so much into history they were looking for Basilio even some local old legends. After I recognized him about a half hour later his wife comes and gives me a signed card with his picture on it signed the Hawk Jackson. And I look over across the big huge room and he is waving at me as she handed it to me. I always remember that. He had this appreciation.

I have a friend, he was 16-1 as a pro, now he is a trainer and an s&c guy. There's a guy that has a boxing blog about the state they live in; this guy throws around "bum" and "can", all those 'in the know' phrases, and he calls fighters losers and quitters. My friend thanked him for his boxing insight by blasting him with a right hand. I wasn't there but I've been told that the guy got up and fell three times.

The suprising thing is that my friend hit him with a right; throughout his career his money punch was the hook to the liver.

I didn't give an opinion, KW.

I asked a couple of obvious questions.

Brush up on your reading skills, or have someone who is literate explain the posts to you.

I interpreted it differently. They called him champ. They knew who Rocky was, and probably had an inkling of what he was capable of. A larger man threatened to "**** you up" assuming he believes he can and walks towards him. They knew the guy was out of line, they knew he probably had it coming.

All the guy had to do to not get KO'ed was anything but go down there. Everybody but this guy knew he was about to get lit up and it seemed impossible to convince him of it. So they tried to convince Rocky to walk away and so the this guy could be spared what he was asking for. Rocky didn't.

I don't think they knew Rocky would land first, but they damn sure knew he'd land last.
