Self-explanatory thread. I think he was. Do you?

Yes, I feel that statement is accurate. Tito at 147 had dynamite in his fists, but Hearns still hit harder IMO.

I agree.Imagine he fought nowadays with day before weigh-ins!!
The WW who fought Ray Leonard would have given any WW in history a beating!:bbb :deal

Robinson obviously has a strong case. KO'ing a MW with an ATG chin with one punch certainly bodes well for your power, especially being a natural WW.

If you had to say Robinson or Hearns, who would you go with? I concur with the thread-starter, I think Hearns was the most concussive 1-punch hitter, very narrowly over Robinson. By the end of his career, Hearns was regularly knocking out cruiserweights. Admittedly a pretty poor standard of fighter, but it still proves his natural power was enough when he moved up to KO men who were far naturally heavier than him.

Robinson always gets underrated in this topic. The guy had brutal power. The guy had over 100 KO's and once killed a man at WW.

Hearns had some top notch KO's, but his power after MW was no longer top notch, even if he was able to stop a few scrubs.

His KO's of guys like Duran, Cuevas, Shuler, etc from 147-160 prove his power, but I don't think anything he ever did matched Robinson's left hook KO of Gene Fullmer. This was a guy known for having one of the toughest chins in MW history, never even stunned, and Robbi took his lights out with a single punch. A natural WW doing that.

Not enough footage of him at WW to really compare him to Hearns there, but he proved his ability and power above that weight more conclusively than Hearns IMO, even if Hearns fought at higher weights do to his frame.

Hearns tops my list for 1 punch KO power at WW. SRR had KO power in both hands though which is pretty rare.

there must be some sort of bum who had better one shot power but just didnt have the training, chin or technique to produce the win

hearns victim pipino has a damn good case for hardest hitter

I'd go with Robinson due to his superior showing of power above welter, but there's no clear distinction between Robinson and Hearns.

Personally, I just think that Tommy could land his right hand any way he wanted against Gene Fullmer and it wouldn't knock Fullmer all the way out, I don't know if Fullmer would even go down from a flush right from Hearns, the man had a great chin, and Robinson nearly decapitated him with the left hook.

Probably a three way tie between Cuevas, SRR, and Hearns. But Hearns ko's were just so damn impressive to watch and almost frightening at times.

Hearns had KO power, but it was pretty much exclusive to his right. Robinson had devastating power in both fists, therefore Robinson gets the nod here.

Cuevas has a case. He was very heavy-handed, his shots would break bones and cause orbital fractures and stuff.

He lacked the skill, technique, and speed of guys like Hearns and Robinson and Trinidad. That plays a role too. You can do more damage when you're quicker and have more skills, so you can land cleaner and more well-placed and well-timed shots.
