    No question McCallum had the deeper resume at LMW, but H2H I'd make Hearns a narrow favourite.

    McCallum was brilliant, but I think the style match up favours Tommy. Hearns was more vulnerable to iron chinned pressure fighters, his reach meant I think he dealt well with skilled counter punchers, ala Benetiz. Though admittedly McCallum was bigger and harder hitting than Wilfred, so he'd be a live underdog, imo.

    I've always thought a fight between the two would see a similar end to SRL v Hearns 1.
    Hearns stacking up the point s then Mike catching him up at the end, to score a ko.
    I think Mike was capable of that. But saying that, who knows with Hearns.?

    McCallum was better at 154 as he fought the better opposition, but Hearns comes out on top H2H via UD or Late Stoppage.

    Hearns was a better fighter a few years after the SRL loss. The 154 Hearns is a more complete fighter.

    That’s a tough one. I remember McCallum obliterating everybody at 154 back in the day when I was at school…he was nigh on unbeatable. His KO victory over knockout King Julian Jackson was probably the highlight, though I do recall him beating both McCrory and Curry too.

    But Hearns was another bad, bad dude at 154. His masterclass over Benitez and the destruction of Roberto Duran were his standouts. Not too shabby at all.

    Flipping eck Fergy you ask some tough questions! H2H I’ll go for Hearns to win a decision as I rate him the better boxer, but I really wouldn’t be surprised if the solid chinned McCallum hung in there, caught him late and stopped him.

    Talk about hedging my bets, eh.

    Old @James Page likes to provoke and take a contrary view. His views on Ali are typical. Usually posters build up a body of work that stands them in good stead when they do take a contrary view and stop people thinking they're just here to wind others up for no good reason.

    Hearns by clear decision imo. I've always been on record that Mike McCallum is a bit overrated. He wasn't in the class of Hagler or Leonard.
