I surprise myself by going for Hearns ,speed, reach ,that jab,and the power. Dec or tko on cuts. Napoles was a big lightweight really, Hearns a big welter.
That's the way I see it too. I totally love Napoles, but Hearns was a physical anomaly. I do see Napoles getting through - much like he did Monzon - but would he do the kind of damage before the inevitable happens? It's asking a lot and despite the fact that I believe he has it all over Tommy skill-wise, I just can't see him preventing the array of jabs and power shots down the pike. It's just too big a hill to climb.
Love both fighters, but Jose definitely has the better skills. Too many to be steamrollered by Tommy.
Not sure , Napoles was an incredible fight but again was just a big lightweight ..still the 22 year old Hearns was not unbeatable .. interesting ..
I see it more like Hearns-Benitez, with the possibility of a cuts stoppage coming into play in Hearns' favor. Slick as Napoles was, Tommy control the distance and the pace.
if we\re talking early 70-71 version of Jose, I got to go with the more proven welter which is Jose Tommy with a good reach but just 3 def in a year just doesnt inspire confidence Unlike most ESbers, I like to wait and dont rush to judgement Put a little pressure like the Harold Weston fight and as the rounds go by, Tommy starts to tire and his chances go down Saa it in the Benitez fight too but Wilfred isnt one to put pressure on when he has to 154 a different story Tommy would get to him quick and mangle him
