Hearns skill AND will take this at welter. Hearns could crack the supposedly 'undentable' chins, and he could defo outpoint margo....

Hearns and i would fancy a ko quite earlier as well, margo is smaller with much less reach than hearns so don't see him bullyg him much, and lets be honest its one thing walking through cottos bombs, quite another the hitmans

    I'm undecided.

Margarito is basically a boiled down junior middleweight, and at that weight we saw Hearn's fail to knock out more than a few fighters with so-so chins.

Yes, he did knock out Duran but I've seen that described by some as catching lightning in a bottle.

I don't totally subscribe to the theory, but Marg is a very, very big WW and some decent chins did go the distance with Hearn's at that weight like Murray Sutherland.

I agree margarito could quite easily go the distance, but not if he is coming to win the fight, if he fights like he always fights, pouring forward at every oppurtunity with questionable defence hearns will have a field day

A lot of those guys that went the distance with hearns during that period were lucky because hearns had a lot of hand problems at that time, when his hand problems were cured he butchered duran and fred hutchings, whipped schuler, destroyed durable roldan and durable lt heavy andries and gave hagler the punch of his life....
At welter his punching was awesome, and margo is very slow compared to hearns...

Hearns would be able to outbox Margo all day long. He's wayyyyyy too slow for The Hitman.

    Didn't know that, honestly.

Yes,from benitez to duran he had a lot of hand problems. He had his wrist in plaster after the benitez fight which he hurt in the eighth,he had to have a long layoff after this. Also, many of the fights after his ray leonard defeat were when hearns was feeling his way back, had hand and sinus problems and was adjusting to fighting at 154 and 160. When fully fit tommys power was sensational,as you know....

Didn't Hearn's always have sinus issues?

Which, strangely, he completely and totally refused to take medication for. Felt it would give him a unfair advantage.

    Got to love Tommy.

u kidding? hearns is a top 5 147lber of all time , what has margarito done to show he could handle a 6'1 freakishly long powerful skilled welter like hearns?

O i know, he lost a clear decision to an inferior 6'1 welterweight paul williams

I like hearns in this one. margarito has trouble with hearns size and reach, and hearns handspeed and jab will control margarito on the outside, and hearns had the punching ability to outduel margarito in the trenches.

    Chin, man.

Willingness to take punishment and to not bend an inch under pressure spelled trouble for Tommy twice, in both Barkley matches.

    Just playin' devils advocate.
