    12 rounds at middle weight.
    The 'Hitman' vs. 'Bad' Bennie....
No question, that Briscoe is the stronger fighter....No question, that Hearns is the faster fighter....
Tommy is by far, the more versatile fighter who could implement an approach to outbox the plodding, robotic Briscoe....Can Hearns hurt him?...He will certainly have the 'squared up' stanced Briscoe in his sights...Will Briscoe catch him?...Perhaps, in the later going?
I'll take Hearns by decision. The overall difference in speed is the reason...
    Who and why?

You may well have answered your own question, Bennie brought a very consistent attack to his opponents, but the sheer one-paced consistencey of it was mappable and readable, and the (Very) top fighters like Monzon and Valdes, with a versatility about them could probably cope with this one=paced attack, work around it, and basically matador it. you always knew where to Find Bennie

Whilst, thankfully for Tommy, Bennie would not come at Tommy Like Hagler Did, Bennies Aggression, Behind that Thumping Jab as he Advances, would start to come into its mown After the half Way Stage,
Tommy's Problem would be not trying to Blast Bennie out early, like he did Duran, and Many Others, Because when the Smoke Clears, there would probably be Bennie, Chugging Forward. like some Fistic Terminator, Tommy would have to use his Boxing Skills, Settle into that Bennie Pace, and then he should be able to come out the other end for The decision

However, you must not Forget, that Whist big Puching Cyclone Hart scrambled a Draw with Briscoe, in the return Bennie Blew out bthe Cyclone in the first, Also Tommy got "Bambi'ed up" and Jelly-legged
against Roldan, Olajide, and Kitchen ( Tommy instigating the worlds record clinch ? the ref almost sent for a Crowbar !) and of course Barkley Nailed Tommy, so Tommy is certainly vunerable if he engages Bennie's at close Quarter Trading, I think Tommy may be hanging on towards the End, But it is Tommy's fight to Lose as well as win,

A respectful Tommy can fight a long range Mobile fight, mixed with Brief exchanges only, to come out a winner on Points, with Bennie bemoaning the fact that it was only over 12 rounds and not 15.

Carlito would have ****ed Bennie up if he hadn't been a punk ass ***** and just shot him.

What you think the Hitman is gonna do?? KO 2 seconds!

Bennie really takes it to Tommy after a couple of rounds, and hands him a KO loss in the fifth round, too strong and aggressive for him.

There's the possible chance that Briscoe gets caught coming in (Valdez got him 1 out of 3), although a more likely chance of winning for Hearns is if he were to stay away from Briscoe for 10 rounds. Briscoe is just a tough match-up for the "Hitman" on paper although Tommy is not without a chance of winning, considering his height and reach advantages which he knew how to utilize.

Briscoe's overhand right is the big factor in this match-up. One solid hit from that could send Hearns crumbling.

I like Briscoe here. Tommy's battles against Kinchen and Barkley are heavy on my mind, and Briscoe was a good deal better than both.

I think Briscoe would break Hearns to pieces. Horrible style matchup for Hearns.

    two schools of thought:

1)briscoe is a MUCH better version of barkley and wears hearns down to powder

2)briscoe is a limited slugger/brawler who an amazing talent like hearns would outbox

    depends where you land

Briscoe was very good at 160, but short of ATG status....... Hearns panned out better overall in his career from 147 to 175....... And, truth is, Briscoe was no Hagler..... I see the Hearns of '86 who waxed James Shuler in 73 seconds getting past Briscoe and either getting a TKO or points win.......

Briscoe was a one-dimensional blockhead who waddled into range with little head movement and blocked punches with his face. He was slow and predictable, he beat only 1 top 10 contender in his entire career (IIRC) and makes his entire living off the back of the crazed Monzon dicksucking fest on this board. Hearns was a ****ing ATG who was wiping his arse with fighters of Briscoe's class all the way up to 175. Briscoe would get erased in a couple of rounds
